Just curious what we mostly acousticans gravitate to when it comes to electrics. I like them all and my preferences change depending on what type of mood I'm in.
I think my all around favorite might be the Gretsch 6120. I'm not a good enough lead player to be hindered much by the bulky neck joint and high bridge so that's a non issue for me. What I like is the mostly hollow body resonance and that with that master volume/treble bleed set up I can go from bright hollow cleans that can even do a decent SRV to roll up the volume and rock as hard as I want to these days with no pedals required. Short scale, ebony board, Bigsby if you want or fold it out of the way if you don't. Covers rock, blues, and country pretty well and rumor has it it can be thumb picked pretty well by guys named Chet. Cool design and to me the 6120 just has a ton of personality.
I've got a nice Gibson ES-175D on the way to try out and am looking forward to that. I'm not a jazz guy but am willing to dabble and also spend a lot of home time playing clean blues or working up covers of 80's stuff I grew up on. Sometimes just looping a clean electric rhythm and soloing over it. I think I can make a ES175 work for me.

The ES-175 is one I have always longed for but I like SGs, Les Pauls, and Strats, too.

My 6120 by the way. Limited run with a quilt top, lacquer finish, TV Jones pickups

My 6120 by the way. Limited run with a quilt top, lacquer finish, TV Jones pickups That's nice. What I like tonally is all over the map. But both BB King's Lucille tone and Gerry Garcia's tone hit high spots for me. That said, if I were to buy another lectric, I'd go for a tele first. Not so much for the twang, but the creamy neck pickup just on the edge of breaking up. Mike

My homemade strat still does it for me. It plays clean very nicely, and the humbucker at the bridge can scream quite nicely.
Otherwise, a 335, a tele, and ES175. I like semi hollow as well, so variants on the 335. I have not tried any of my buddies electrics, he has a collings semi hollow which might be fun.

I'm quite enjoying my Franken-strat. But I rarely plug it in. It's my quiet late night acoustic, really. I love the Epiphone SG neck on it. Great feel. That Gretsch is tempting. I see 5420t's for sale cheap.

Not really an electric guitar, which is why it's my favorite electric* guitar. * Defined as a guitar that comes with a pickup already installed as distinct from retrofitted.

I am at my core an electric player, not an acoustic player. In 1979 (the year I graduated high school) I bought my favorite guitar and it's been with me everywhere ever since. It's a special edition (only 300 made) ES335CRS. It's odd because it's stereo although I've never had the occasion to use it that way. Been with me gigging in Carnegie Hall, the Birchmere, Florida, Boston, Dallas and on almost everything I've ever recorded. I've tried very hard over the years to justify something else, but it always just works. Damn. My son's already threatened my life if I ever sell it, not that I ever could. This is from some gig some years ago and it shows the whole rig- the Mesa and a corner of the tc electronics effects rig that goes with the 335. Hope it posts.

There are two that are always next to me in my office, so picking one is hard.
There is the Vintage brand V.52:
It has broadcaster pickups and a b-bender installed in it.
And the Eastman John Pisano (380):
I'll let you decide which should be my favorite.

I have an older Joe Pass Epiphone that works great with PAF ‘s and a Bigsby installed by Ray Chesna. I also just bought a Fender Sqier Jaguar that sounds great thumbpicked through my Loudbox Mini. Like this Jazzmaster

I don't have a wide exposure to various electric styles, and the only ones I have right now are Strat and Tele shapes. That said, the one I'm grabbing most often lately is my 60th anniversary Telecaster. It's unique in that it has a Fishman AST 'powerbridge' so in addition to the Fender Noiseless pickups I have an acoustic sounding 9v active piezo option as well, controlled by a separate volume knob. It's a pretty versatile guitar and the neck is soooooo nice and fast, I think it has jumbo talls on it, but not sure. I also have a hankering to try a Gibson SG style guitar, as I've got a recent infatuation with Greta Van Fleet.

My ES-165 serves me well. It's a single pickup ES-175, archtop real hollow-body with built in pick-up. Plays like an acoustic but the pickup allows amplification and tone selection. It's all I need because I'm playing the guitar not the electronics. The cutaway allows access to the 20th fret. That's as far as I need.

I like lots of electric guitars, but I’m most comfortable with the small, thin ones. I had a big Gretsch for awhile, and just couldn’t get used to it. I loved the TV Jones pickups in it, though, so I picked up this. Love this thing. It’s one of six. My favorite electric guitar today? 😎

It’s amazing, once you start asking, how many people have the same problem. You know, “oh you have a bad back too?” Or, “you play electric as well?”

This is a hard one to answer. I've recently hung up my Les Paul for a Paul Reed Smith Custom SE 24. For open G tuning, my Highway One Telecaster is my go-to guitar. As for which one is my favorite? It depends on what song we have going.

I’m happy with my Frankentele which has been rebuilt with hand built proper Tele pickups and a three-piece bridge. I guess my Kennedy archtop isn’t really an electric guitar but I sure do love it.

I guess it'd have to be my 2014 Rick Kelly Bowery Pine T-style. The body was made from white pine beams extracted from the Bowery loft of filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, who is a friend and customer of Rick's. The neck is a piece of 100+ year-old maple Rick bought in the 1970s. Lindy Fralin pickups, Glendale Guitars bridge with mitered brass saddles for better intonation. I named this guitar Kohoutek because it took so long to show up, and there was so much hoopla and anticipation surrounding its arrival. Some of you old-timers will get the joke.
