They played a gig here in Omaha.

There was an elderly man, apparently quite hard of hearing and using sub-standard hearing aids, who had unfortunately and unknowingly positioned himself directly in front of one of the speakers. For the first few songs, he was in some level of distress.

Eventually he decided to both move and remove the hearing aids.

Then, as Mark and Joy wound down a song, he announced to his table, in a voice far, far (far!) louder than I'm sure he intended, that "it helps when you get away from the speaker".

So it came out as something of an unintentional dig.

(In telling the story, I do in fact find myself thinking "you had to be there...")

Mark and Joy were in fabulous form, as always. Great and appreciative audience. It was a delight getting to see them again.

We had a great time and it was really terrific getting to see Jeff. We’d been hired by the Great Plains Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association to entertain at the it monthly meeting. Nice bunch of folks and a great audience. Wish we could have stayed longer with Jeff but needed to touch base with Joy’s brother and SIL before returning home.

Boy am I tired.
