Good morning.
Bought a cane to help me walk yesterday. A friend is doing a presentation about Chincoteaque Ponies this afternoon and we have tickets so we'll go up. No way is Mary going to miss that. I'm trying to loosen up so I can try to look healthy but I'll take the cane in case I need it. I can drive without the left leg but walking is tough. It's about an hour North of here but I think I can do that. I'll take the Buick in case driving back home becomes a problem. Mary can do that if needed. It will still be daytime and not supposed to be raining or anything. She just can't drive at night.
Happy Friday.

Bruce--it might be too late, but I really liked the arm crutches I used (first two, then one).

Back home, interesting drive yesterday from Decorah to Lacrosse yesterday, 33 degrees, rain, snow and WIND. About 5- 6 inches of slush in Lacrosse. Had a great lunch with grandson and made it out of town with having a new guitar follow me home.

Bruce--it might be too late, but I really liked the arm crutches I used (first two, then one). I don't need crutches, just something to take some load off the left leg while I limp around. Once I get moving it gets better but if I've been sitting or worse lying down, getting up and moving hurts. Using the nurse 0-10 pain scale, I'm at about 8 getting up but it drops to about 4 after a minute or two of limping around. We have an old pair of crutches from a broken ankle Mary had years ago. They're not really tall enough for me but I tried them before getting the cane and they were more trouble than they're worth. After some practice, the cane works well enough.

I pulled into Nazareth was feeling bout half past dead. But I'm up and off to the factory. Energized. Gonna meet Dave, the custom shop rep. Tour and wishful thinking. Gotta be responsible.

I was planning on remaining in Orlando when Faithful Wife goes home on Saturday because things are in flux workwise here again. But then we heard that the son of a good friend killed himself by driving drunk- again. He wasn't fully recovered from the last wreck he had but he went and did it again. It's a real shame as he was a nice guy with a family but alcohol just ruined everything for him.
I'm thankful for my kids that although we all have a drink and get loud every now and then they don't have whatever it is that makes someone regularly drink till they pass out. Or worse, get sloppy drunk and drive. Thank God.

Gorgeous here. It is sunny and supposed to be 50-60 degrees. It hit 72 here yesterday, but was a lot chillier downtown Chicago when we were there. We watched the outside temperature go up pretty quickly the farther we got away from the city on the way home. Do something both fun and useful today.

We are indeed up for all day. Going to Dodge City this morning to look over an alternative school for Carrie to finish up high school at. Poor girl has so many challenges to overcome, but there is light at the proverbial end of the tunnel. Finding I really don't do well with tree pollen. "To breathe or not to breathe.....that is congestion!"

Cleared up after lunch in Decorah.

Day thrown into disarry when the garbage didn't get picked up and the paper wasn't delivered. Discovered that the ferry we just got back is now in dry dock to have one of the engines replaced due to a coolant leak. Plans for the day have now changed, need to reassess priorities, and toss out the saved donkey do.
Better days y'all

Well, discussed commissioning a guitar from Martin's Custom shop. Sounds like a Bubinga 000, with a startling white Alpine spruce top, and fitted out like a Perry Bechtel 14 fretter. Gotta parley with the local store to see if we can get the final price in range and approval from the CFO.
And BTW, Brent Mason and Sean McGowan finished the night with a blistering Nashville style set. They just met yesterday. Inconceivable.
