If you are near Marion, IA, go buy some pottery. We ARE near Marion, IA, as it turns out and we are heading over. I only learned yesterday that Millring was coming. He’s evidently known for months but kept it to himself. We’d already made a bunch of plans including a concert this evening featuring David Bromberg and Loudon Wainwright III. Those tickets were spendy enough that I’m loath to blow it off. I wish Millring had let us know. I only bought the tickets a week ago. Still, we’ll spend as much time with him as we can carve out. He’s one of our favorite people to be around and we see him far too seldom.

My condolences, Bruce. We're at that age but it isn't easy.
Good morning all. Our mild spring continues with highs in the 70s and 80s for the next week. It's delightful but the heat of May and June is what triggers our moonsoon rains in the summer. Maybe it'll be a dry one.
Enjoy your day.

Just home from the Marion art fair, got to meet John and visit for a while. Rain early, but the sun is shining now. Off to play music at a crawfish boil this afternoon.

Drove to Chicago area early this morning. Got to spend some time with Marshall at the guitar show this morning.
For your information Marshall went to plaid, ask him about it.
I bought something I couldn't afford. Oddly enough I didn't have cash or check and the guy says, take it and send me a check next week.

Worked all day today and will be here same time same place tomorrow. But I'm not complaining. It's just pressure, deadlines and people nagging. Not life or death stuff.

I bought something I couldn't afford. Oddly enough I didn't have cash or check and the guy says, take it and send me a check next week. Nice to see Joe. Hope to see him again later tonight with his better half. Yeah, I bought a plaid guitar cable. Some guy builds them. Starts with the top-of-the-line Mogaby; adds another shielding with decoration (hence the paid cable) and has gold ends including an automatic cut-off of the signal when you unplug. Vinecables.com. Tell them Marshall sent you. . . . , and he'll say, "Who the hell is that? ? ?" Saw some mighty fine old guitars. Larry Cash Briggs had some great old Gibsons, including an Ernie clone 1957 Country Western. Quite nice. But my quirky favorite was a rebuilt no-name guitar by Dan Lambert. He called it "Cowboy Guitar." He did a fantastic job on the rebuild. New fretboard. He installed carbon fibre neck reinforcing (non-adjustable). Action was great. Setup was great. Very cool vibe to it. The top was just a mess, so he decided to not sand and refinish, but French Polish over what was there. I liked it a lot. Listed price $1,000.

Good morning. It's Saturday and not supposed to rain which almost never happens. I can't open the pool by myself but I may try to get the pump and filter running and check for leaks anyway. I shouldn't have to do any heavy lifting to do that. The pool has been filled above the skimmers under the cover. That I could do. My steroid injection is scheduled for Thursday afternoon and I can't miss that because I don't know when I might get another appointment. Meanwhile my wife's twin sister's husband entered hospice yesterday. He's been falling apart for the past 30 years but it's probably days now if that. Mary will need to go to Massachusetts for his funeral when he goes. She's very close to her twin of course. The guy had had a roofing and siding business and he's fallen off a lot of scaffolding and roofs but somehow recovered from all the injuries over the years. Looks like diabetes is gonna do him in. Have a good Saturday if you can. Give Mary a good hug.

Yes, do give Mary a hug, Bruce.
It turns out that despite the forecast, Millring had good weather at the art show today. It looked rainy at first, then cleared off a bit, then started warming up to a storm, but it didn't start raining here until around 6:00, so probably not around 6:30 in Marion. John said the show ended at 5:00, so I'm assuming he had time to pack up and get out on time.
I was nice to visit with him a bit, although we limited the conversation to about ten minutes. Millring was at work, and making sales. When customers came in we weren't going to get in the way of that. I did manage to key his van on the way back to our car, and it was a nice albeit fairly brief visit.

Yes! We're in NYC, staying in Times Square. We're traveling with another couple. We didn't really have a set schedule until we got here (except for three shows). We're here until Monday. Today (Sunday) we're doing MOMA and we're going to walk the Brooklyn Bridge.

Morning. I'm tired this morning. I stayed up last night too late playing the Gull. After all my pissing and moaning about the new strings they seem to be mellowing out and are at least acceptable. And Nita, who was reading her Kendle, even complemented me, saying it was nice to listen to. We had a fab dinner at Nibbiolo wine bar with friends, David it's worth the trip to Oregon City for a special occasion with your wife, and this morning we are meeting Nita's Austrailian friends at Milo's City Cafe for brunch, before they head back to OZ tomorrow. That is pretty much all the news that's fit to print.

That doesn't give us much time to plan a meeting... perhaps next time you're in town?
