Trash day. This is the day Hoosiers drive around in their pickups looking for treasure. They make a bigger mess than the raccoons. Enjoy something today even if it is as simple as watching Hoosiers fight over a broken lamp.

Good morning.
It will be trash day here too if I can get moving. I have an old wooden rocking chair I want to dump along with the usual trash if I can get up the strength to carry it to the Subaru. Supposed to be party cloudy and 70-something today so I should take advantage of the good weather and do some work if I can get my left leg to agree. We'll see.
Happy Wednesday.

Trash day is tomorrow here. Except it's not. Portland has trash pickup every other week. Recycling and yard debris every week. This is not a trash week. Every other municipality has every week trash pickup. David is lucky, he lives in Beaverton, so he gets trash picked up every week. Thanks for remindinding me what retards the city leaders of Portland are.
I'm up, coffee now and more rants later.
Mike

Just got back from the trails. It's a beautiful morning in the woods.
We walked Breeze past a German Shorthair lying comfortably on his back patio. His eyes were completely clouded over with age. As we approached he raised his head. With years of experience and a very intelligent nose he read the air and noted Breeze's presence.

Trash days... Mondays and Thursdays are "burnable"--kitchen waste, dirty paper and plastics too hard to wash. Also garden waste--leaves, trimmings. 1st and 3rd Tuesdays are recycles--steel/alu cans, PET bottles, plastics (with a recycle symbol). 2nd Wednesdays for glass--bottles, jars, etc. 4th Tuesday is metals, batteries, any kind of light bulb, paint/spray cans. Most suprmkts here take newspaper, non-newsprint paper and cardboard, PET bottles, foam trays, and flattened milk cartons. Some also take glass. A couple pics from a shrine I went to last week:

Mornin'.....
Three days to finish being ready for my 3rd annual June Jam. Weather still looks good, numbers currently look to be around 40. Joshua will be coming and we'll do the White River Suite again. Too much fun.

Good morning. The trash and recycling are out by the curb. It'll be sunny and hot today and for the rest of June in all likelihood. Walk taken. A few flowers photographed. Laundry underway. Enjoy your day.

I bought an older Polytone mini brute from Dave Roos a couple of weeks ago and played out with it for it for the first time last night at the Wine Bar.
Amazing tone for jazz. I absolutely love it. I Had been using an AER Compact 60 which was fine but I like the Polytone a lot better.

Looking at quoted options for getting the exterior of our current dwelling painted. Looks like some of the numbers have been swapped, but $3,500 is probably the cheapest to get both stucco and trim done. Ouch. Meanwhile, the guy who is supposed to come this afternoon to quote some repairs to fascia and door jambs to be done first has not called us as promised.
Lunch with our social club, mailing a bill, donating some books, picking up prescriptions, back here for the repair quote. There goes the day.

Finally got resolution to a problem with Terminix. Our carport has termites. The first serviceman who came out said the carport wasn't covered by our warranty. We asked the local office why not. There was a lot of miscommunication on their side which they finally resolved. They'll treat the termites and they apologize for the misunderstanding. It would have been $900 otherwise.

Just back from 7.4 mile bike ride. May not sound like much but I am old and fat so it felt like a good start to me. E-bike, but I peddled a lot.

During lunch at the restaurant the power went out (a fairly frequent occurrence). We got our food, but had to pay with cash. One guy, new to the group, said that he was going to tell the staff that he didn't have any cash, although he did. I'm calibrated. Don't want to know that guy any better because of that and other reasons. I told him to let his conscience decide, but we weren't picking up his tab. We didn't stay to hear the result of his discussion with the staff.
We continued on to Walmart to pick up prescriptions. I had never seen the parking lot so empty. Should have been our clue that it was closed due to no power. The electric co-op website acknowledged a widespread problem from the middle of Sierra Vista to Whetstone (only a few Soundhooligans have any idea where those are), but had no estimate on the time until "restoral." Several of us would-be Walmart customers waited in some convenient covered porch swings. After about 15 minutes we were allowed to enter. Power was back on at our next stop and it never went off at our house farther south.
Guy is supposed to be here soon to quote fixing our fascia and door jambs. Hoping we can get that and painting done before the monsoon rains.
