The BBC has been running this series of podcasts on Wednesday afternoons. It's an examination of the U.S. space program and it's eventual successful landing on the moon. The story is told by former astronauts and NASA employees. I've found it to be absolutely fascinating. There are a lot of things about the space program that I've forgotten over the past 50 years and a lot of things I never knew. It's available for download from the BBC here: 13 Minutes to the Moon
