Finally, rain today. I watered the tomatoes yesterday, which I usually never,do, and I could hear the grass crunching under my feet as I walked across the lawn.

Good morning.
84F/29C Cloudy, rain, T-storms.
Chowder Society meeting this afternoon whereas old guys get together to eat, drink and pontificate the worlds problems to little effect.
But first a trip to the Dump to get rid of a old, oversize, torn up, leather chair that's been taking up way too much space for years.
Pine Island 90F.

Good morning, unless you're heavily invested in U.S. stocks.
Been out doing my farming, finishing the mowing I didn't finish yesterday. The forecast was for rain so I got an early start but no rain fell and the sun's out now. The morning dew wet grass clumped of course and I'll have to wait 'til it dries and then try to spread it out. Looks pretty bad right now.
There's nothing on the calendar this week so I'll see if I can get my guitar playing up to no worse than everyone else by Wednesday. So far I still have a long way to go.
Have a peaceful day if possible.

I can say this here (maybe?) without anyone thinking I believe myself anything but an adequate, sort of intermediate amateur level guitar player. If I have a strength as a guitar player it is in an amateur-ness that allows me -- since I don't have to stay sharp on a repertoire for performance -- to dabble in lots of styles and lots of songs and lots of arrangements. I don't play anything perfectly. I can simply enjoy experiencing music.
But no man is an island. And like most anyone else who endeavors in the creative arts, it's nice at times to have the opportunity to share what you've been working on -- maybe get some validation that you've come up with something a little special, even.
Over the weekend I stayed with some artist friends. There was the host and his mate and another couple. The two guys play guitar and one of the women has dabbled and loves music. My host played a song and then I played a song.
The other guy put down his magazine in the middle of my song and started paying attention.
They asked me to play another, but I prompted my friend to share another instead. He did, but then insisted that I play again.
By my second song, I was more or less giving an informal concert....at their continued prompting. It went on for a bit over an hour.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it.

Sounds like a great experience, John. What Jim Croce song(s) did you play?

It was 115 degrees here today, an all-time high for the date. I won't be breaking out the bubbly.
