 He is the supervisor for this project in downtown Orlando. Those cranes can't come down in time. Florida is awash in construction cranes. You can't drive around Florida without seeing a crane on the horizon. There are too many to bring down (four days per crane) so the crane owners aren't bringing any of them down. The buildings across the street are college dorms. |

Hope Florida gets spared but right now it doesn't look good. The last forecast I saw had it heading to mid-Florida as a Cat3. OTOH, one model has it turning North East and coming up the coast. There's a cold front coming down from the mid-west that might push the hurricane out to sea. In any case, a Labor Day vacation in Florida looks like a bad idea.

Unless something really unexpected happens Faithful Wife and I will be moving our home towards Arkansas come Saturday. If we wait till it crosses Fla and enters the Gulf I will be on the road will a few million others. If it doesn’t come across then we had a nice change of scenery. There is just no reason to wait till people go apeshit like my daughter in Orlando is reporting.

Unless something really unexpected happens Faithful Wife and I will be moving our home towards Arkansas come Saturday. If we wait till it crosses Fla and enters the Gulf I will be on the road will a few million others. If it doesn’t come across then we had a nice change of scenery. There is just no reason to wait till people go apeshit like my daughter in Orlando is reporting. Smart. |

My No.1 daughter is evacuating with the granddaughters to his relatives in North Carolina. S-I-L can't worry about a major project like that, no electricity, cranes waving around over college dorms, and small children. He is banishing wife and children till things settle down. |

They just upgraded the projection to a cat 4 at landfall. I'm on the west coast so it will only be a cat 1 or 2 hurricane when it passes over my house which is where the center of the cone of probability tracks right now. Not gonna bail just gonna batten down the hatches and hunker down and ride it out.
