This from an old friend, music writer Michael Oberman:
"On this day (Sept. 19) in 1973, the world lost a great musician, singer and songwriter, Gram Parsons. From the Byrds to the Flying Burrito Brothers to his own solo career...Parsons left a lasting mark on the world of music. I was lucky enough to have interviewed Gram in January of 1973. A brief interview. Another indelible mark left on me."
As Ken Burns's Country Music doc proceeds, I have to wonder how much of a mark Parsons would have made on the world had he survived. A pretty big one, I suspect.
