Have good ones my friends.
Off to church a little before 10, then home to vacuum and watch football.

Rain and thunder and lighting oh my. Clara, the ever brave dachshund does not like thunder, and ended up in bed with us, snoring on her back. Rain is loud on the roof of a aluminum trailer. So are snoring dogs.
Today, a tour of Shaker village, and a visit to a guy who makes mountain dulcimers. And food. Last night we went to a dinner theater. The best thing I can say about that is that our money went to a good cause, supporting local theater students in a place where the arts get short shrift.
And that is all.

Good morning. It's about 70F here and likely to stay that way today.
Spent time yesterday again working on the starting problem with my mower. One internet suggestion was to replace the positive cable between the battery and starter solenoid. The symptom is that it won't turn over just on the internal battery but I can reliably start it with jumper cables from my car, the problem is intermittent of course, sometimes it works. It's a new battery in the mower. It's pretty tight quarters getting to the solenoid connection so I figured I'd have to remove the starter. There's nothing like an American made mower with a Honda motor to make one look through a 60 year collection of tools for the necessary English and Metric wrenches. I did eventually get it apart and back together but still have the same problem. The mower shop here says it needs a new starter motor and it's a $400 part but since it starts fine with a jump from the car I have trouble believing it's the starter motor. Interestingly, the shop's owner has the same mower and has the same problem. He hasn't bothered to fix his because he can start it same way. Being a hard-headed Scotsman, I'll keep trying to figure out a fix.
Patriots play the Redskins this afternoon and it's supposed to be on TV here. My son and DIL have tickets to the game with seats right behind the Patriots bench. Everybody beats the Redskins and I hope that continues today.
Have a good Sunday, unless you're a Redskins fan.

Good morning, everyone. It's 5:10 and all's well. It should be warmish but pleasant here. There will be a potluck for choir members and choir spouses like me after church. Lots of good cooks and good people in the choir. Diane and I will leave tomorrow for two nights in the Verde Valley and Flagstaff so there's a little packing to do. Enjoy your day.

I hadn't mowed in 27 years and didn't even own a mower. People around here would mow my yard cheap. Now I own 3 riders. My zero turn is just a little hotrod. Since my wife passed I now mow. So now it's mowing and making brownies to keep me busy. Oh and entertaining older gals. They don't tell. They don't swell, and some times they are grateful as hell !!

Gonna enjoy this day fur shore. Patriots stomped the Redskins today. Well, not yet but it is inevitable. Those DC jerks with the politically insensitive club name deserve it.

Bruce, don't know what type of mower you have, but I had a similar problem, intermittently, with my scag. On the scag the solenoid is out in the open and easy to get to. If you can jumper the positive to the input of the solenoid (the small third lug) and it starts, the issue is not the solenoid or the starter. It is one of the many interlock switches that have been added for your safety. I had to unplug and re-plug 7 of them to find the offending connector. Your manual should have the schematic. If jumping the solenoid input doesn't work, it is the solenoid. Your mileage may vary. On the scag, there are two different interlock systems. One controls the application of power to the solenoid. The other connects ground to complete the spark circuit of the motor. Mine would run when jumped so that eliminated the ground interlock and meant it had to be the 12v side.

The solenoid is attached to the starter motor and buried so I had to get the whole thing out to get to the pos lug on the solenoid to replace the pos cable. It could be the solenoid but it comes as a package of solenoid and motor which is why it's $400. There's no way to get to the wires on the solenoid with the motor installed. The solenoid clicks when I turn the key but the starter motor frequently doesn't start. If I hook jumper cables from the car to the battery in the mower it starts every time.

Roses and mesquite trees are pruned by me. Made the switch from evap cooler to furnace, mostly by Mr. H. He is about to mow. I'm packing more stuff. Yes, it's another fun few days at our old house. Very close to having it emptied, but then there's the garage, which is off limits to me clearing stuff out. We made shrimp scampi last night and had it with a bottle of wine. A Jesse Cook CD on an old boombox improved the atmosphere of eating at the card table on lawn chairs.
