Out with the dog earlier today--beautiful after yesterday's pouring rain. About an 80 min walk up and back, including a decent break there at the gazebo. Was tempted to pull out a bike, but maybe a few more walks like this one first. (sorry that she's a little out of focus)

I spy, with my little eye, a Dachschund!
Somehow, our Doxie, wormed her way into our bed this am, and is currently happily snoozing under the covers. I’m drinking coffee. Today we tour Woodford researve, then lunch is being catered by Three Farm Boys distillery.
High of 77 forecast for Frankfort KY.

Good morning.
Not going to make it out of the 60s F today and there's a North wind, very Fallish. At least the leaves will be landing in the pool cover which is easier to clean out than the pool is.
I've arrived at the stage of old age wherein the friends of my youth are checking in with diseases they probably won't survive. Makes my current problems seem trivial and I don't know what to say to them beyond good luck with the treatments. Modern medicine may be able to extend life but the quality of that life isn't great and they haven't cured death yet. I'm just trying to come to grips with pending losses. Many of you have already hit that point. I don't deal with it very well but I guess I have to get used to it soon.
Played some classical and some folkie last night, maybe 45 minutes before my fingers said to stop. That's better than the 20 minutes I've been limited to for awhile. The left hand strength is improving some and I'll keep pushing it. Play 'til it hurts and then a little longer every day seems to be helping.
Happy Wednesday.

Three young blind kids who are cognitively impaired I work with are really making progress this year. What might seem simple things to us are huge for them. Like what are called print readiness skills: knowing that when presented with a book the spine is on the right, pages are turned left to right, using to hands to describe what is on the page, like inserted tactile stuff (pockets, etc) or simply recognizing the Braille as Braille. This year all three of them are rocking it, and it tickles me pink to see them accomplishing what are huge things for them.
