Hope everything comes out OK, Dan.
26F here this morning, which to me is cold. There's frost on the roof but at least that means my duct work isn't leaking like it was last Winter. I'll keep an eye on it though. There are branches to pick up and I think I can safely take the window A/C out of the quilt studio so Mary can close that window but both things would be outdoor work and I don't feel like doing it. My neighbor is an American Indian and I'll have to ask him when Indian Summer is coming.
It's Mary's last day of being in her 60s and I'll have to try to not make jokes about that. It won't be easy.
Happy Thursday.

It is supposed to actually be above freezing today and for the next 7 days! Hooray! The pond behind is is completely iced over so that should change. Have some fun today.

Good morning. We'll have more pleasant but not very autumnal weather. I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep. Enjoy your day.

My wife has planned a kidnapping tonight. Still no reveal as to what type of event. Overnight in a B&B then back home tomorra, where I will be hosting the Sunapee Coffeehouse performance. A fellow who is a self professed guitarist of the Tommy Emmanuel ilk. Can't find a recording of him playing anywhere, just promotional notes. So two nights in a row of mystery evening events. We will see. And, oh, it's freakin cold for fall. 12 degrees. Fahrenheit.

More packing, oh the joy. At least there is coffee. A beer later with a fellow old fart.

6 year ago, in the U of I, ICU, at 5:55 a.m., I was holding my wife of 43 years as she took he last breath. It seems like yesterday, and it seems like a long time ago. So many great Memories.

Yes, those anniversaries hit hard, as Bill knows too well. Nancy died in my arms 2 years this February 1. I relived the whole sequence again last night. November and Thanksgiving are tough because that's when we lost Andrew. Somehow it's harder now than the previous two years. As I've heard said, lean into the pain. It's good advice. I follow it sometimes.

I got some unexpected exercise today. With only two of us in the newsroom at 6:45, the fire alarm went off, and the recording directed us to head to the seventh floor via the stairs (we're on the 12th floor). My colleague and I descended via separate stairwells, but we both found the seventh-floor doors locked, as were all the others until we reached the ground floor. There, the security desk informed us that it was a false alarm and we were cleared to return to our offices.

So, you had to walk up twelve flights of stairs, right? Nah, took the elevator. I assumed that. I was only kidding. Going up the stairs would be the “unexpected exercise” doncha know.
