Good morning. My wife and I went to a small club here (Rockwood Music Hall) to see Balsam Range last night. They were terrific. Great musicianship, really powerful, tight vocals. Banjo player Marc Pruett, who has also played with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, smiled more than any banjo player I have ever seen. He was just having a terrific time. Caleb Smith plays a guitar he built himself.
Have a good week, all.

Looks like fun, Howard.
I'll be off soon for a hike in a canyon north of here. It'll be cold but the place is an old friend and I always enjoy going there. Have a good day.

Smiling Banjo player. Sounds pretty scary to me!
I am up, even though it is too early, and feeling pretty good. I had a very nice birthday and Barb gave me a water color by a talented artist I really admire. Gorgeous. Have a very nice day.

Good morning, though it's wet and foggy it's still warm.
The wife found a small unused area under a window in her quilt studio so I've been assigned the task of putting a shelf there. None of my spare left over lumber is appropriate so I'll be out looking for shelf parts as a way to get out of the house today. This might take the rest of the day if I'm lucky.
Happy Monday the 13th.

Has epaul checked in yet? I'm a little worried about him. There was news on the radio about a high speed chase in Grand Forks last night and a couple guys were arrested. Now granted they said it was an SUV and a drug deal, not a lawn tractor and cooking sherry, but they might have gotten some details wrong. I was hoping epaul would have checked in safe this morning.
Marty, if we need to, can you set up a bail bond fund?

Howard, one of the boys gave me Balsam Range's CD "Papertown" for Christmas. I've enjoyed it very much, and envy your chance to hear them live.

For all we know he's fine and just slumped in his chair surrounded by empty Sherry bottles and Snickers wrappers.

Boy, did I have quite the morning, don't you know. But, everything is all straightened out. There is no law against enjoying a few sherrys while snowblowing. And how was I to know they were genuine police? What real policeman would ever stop a guy on a John Deere from doing his job? Sheesh! But, all's well now, and I met some interesting people. Back to work!

Shannon, here's a link to their tour schedule. Ain't Georgia just a stone's throw from Opelika?
Yes, they are a great band and they were smokin' hot last night.

Spent the day working with my long-time pickin' pal Bill Norman. Yesterday, we removed (in two pieces) the old hot tub that was in a sunny room leading out to the pool. Today, Today, we Today, we prepped the area where the tub came from, figured out the plan of attack (common on remodels of this nature, when two 1970's vintage homes are married together on one foundation into one WAY TOO BIG of a house). The opening is almost done as far as framing, and we'll finish that and lay the 3/4" plywood floor tomorrow. We'll quit there until spring, when we'll put down a layer of 1/4" underlayment and vinyl floor to match the rest of the room. Goodnight!

Yes, we are shouting distance from the Georgia line, but those particular concert locations are a pretty long drive from us. We have a big bluegrass festival here about every other year, and Balsam Range is usually on the bill. I hope to see them the next time they come.
