Just heard from the wife. She's safely on the ground and settled in. Not sure of anything other than that, but that's good enough.
Me and the puppy are going back to bed.

I know it's only Tuesday morning for most of us, but what the heck.

Wondering if it'll be another record day for the mkts...? Top down: Futures are up so far. Good morning. Early reports from New Hampshire seem to say Bloomberg's plan to buy the vote is working. Rainy day here but I'm not as stuffed up as I was yesterday and I slept OK so I guess it's just a cold and maybe a days rest will cure it. Sorry to see the news about Marty but will hold out hope for his recovery. Have a good Tuesday. IRS says I'll have my refund tomorrow. That was quick.

Good morning. It's raining and it has been all night. Not far to the north it's snow. It's welcome.
Other than getting a haircut I have little planned. Enjoy your day.

In a few hours I'll be over at the college addressing the art department.

Coffee with the old farts this am. Then Trader Joe’s, then a blood draw at Kaiser, then pet smart for Doxie provisions, at sometime this morning we will do a phone meeting with the home builders, they screwed up and installed the wrong size island in the kitchen. They need to fix it before the granite countertops arrive. That’s it for my day, I hope.

Got the patio bench put together yesterday just before a thunderstorm rolled in. Still rainy today. Finally the vertical posts for the garage rack that we got 3 days ago are out for delivery today. Maybe we will tackle that job if they get here early enough. It won't be happening tomorrow with Mr. H's oral surgery.

More rain here. Some minor flooding going on locally, more significant flooding happening further north.
Hoping to see the sun soon!

OK, the wife's gotten a little bit of sleep so she filled me in a bit on what life is like at Bagram in Afghanistan. They've provided her with personal body armor which unfortunately weighs 60 lbs rendering her virtually immobile. Not to worry though since most of her time will be spent indoors. She has promised to send us a picture of herself in full gear though.
Apparently because it's winter there, most of the folks who would normally be firing on them are staying home. It's apparently too cold for jihad. Enemy rockets and mortars are blessedly unsophisticated and wildly inaccurate. If outside, hit the ground immediately and when clear, crawl to a bunker. Everyone's got a cell phone with instructions to call their commanding officer and check in whenever anything happens.
The biggest thing that an attack will do is unleash the C-Rams which take things to utter cacophony as demonstrated below:
The convenient little world she's always known has just got a lot bigger. Needless to say, I'm busting my buttons.

Coincidentally Christal just had her first Taliban attack. She was getting out of bed to go to the bathroom when the sirens went off and the big speakers started broadcasting in Arabic and the damn C-RAMs lit up. She's fine because she was in the armored bunk building.
Kind of startling to actually be living in a war zone.
I shit you not.
