I'll be taking part in the drive-thru economy today -- pick up a prescription at the Walgreens window, pick up cold brew at the Mudslingers window, get the gravel dust rinsed off the auto at the drive-thru car wash, perhaps pick up supper tonight at Maverick's Roast Beef, which is providing curbside delivery with phone-ahead orders.
Got a dusting of snow overnight, but it won't hang around long with a high of 45 predicted.
Capt. Kennedy, you flying the DC-3 anywhere today? I have some questions for you about that sim.

Good morning.
Daughter-in-law had to close 2 of her 4 CO pizza restaurants as they are located on college campuses. Two remained open for walk up business + newly added delivery option ... one of those did record business yesterday. The sense of community is strong, I hope it's sustainable.
Cheers

Good morning. It'll be cloudy and 55-74. We'll take walks as well as attend live-streamed church and a live-streamed organ recital. I've been coming up with daily to-do lists of mundane tasks to keep from sitting around. If I obey the list some shrubs will get trimmed and the patio will get cleaned up. Oh, and I'll have to get some beer. Stay well.

A good friend and her doctor daughter-in-law are hospitalized. Both have tested positive so husband & two sons are under quarantine. Linda, the friend, has asthma, so that is an additional concern. Stay well.

Ordered take-out from HEY-NONNY last night. It's a local music venue/restaurant/bar. Great place. Chicken Angeline was very good. I don't think they're doing a booming biz. My bag was the only one on the table when I stopped by. The streets of downtown Arlington Heights were very empty. There are a lot of restaurants there. That's what has sustained and revitalized the downtown. Looked pretty slim last night.

I think to be on the safe side I wouldn't be getting any takeout food as you don't know who is sick and they could be making your food order. Just a thought.

On the other hand, you don't know who touched the ingredients that you buy in the grocery store.
I'll be making scones this morning. Scored some whipped cream cheese on our last trip to Walmart. Closest thing to clotted cream that we've been able to find.
Our social club is now planning a test of Zoom for noon today. And sometime today I'll watch the service from the church we've been attending. They were already live streaming both services before that became the only way to have a service. The videos can be watched later too.
Going out to dinner tonight. that means eating in our dining room instead of our kitchen. Or maybe on the patio if it's still warm enough at dinner time. Will be making a white pizza. Don't have some things that we usually put on it, but have Roma tomatoes, red onions, and black olives. Will select a nice bottle of wine.

Capt. Kennedy, you flying the DC-3 anywhere today? I have some questions for you about that sim. I flew to Raleigh/Durham yesterday but they landed me on a short cross runway and I couldn’t quite get old Betsy stopped before the end and ground looped onto the grass. No major damage but a couple of things need to be checked so I probably won’t leave till later today. The eastern seaboard is so fascinating from 3000’. So many coves, inlets, and islands. I think I will continue south.

I just got back from a long run in the woods. It was a nice morning for it. The trails are soft and easy on the feet. The creek is high and noisy. The trees are still bare-naked and see-through. No secrets. The deer pop up startled as you pass, but then just get that "Oh, it's just you" look on their faces and go back to snuffling the ground. Someone got this lucky shot of the greenway bridge that bisects the trails.

Oatmeal, with walnuts and raisins in the trailer for breakfast. Ran a propane tank dry this am, but I have the other one full. Going to Cistco for gas in the truck soon, and run it through the drive through car wash as it’s filthy after the trip to Cali and back. And then watching tv in the trailer rounds out the day.

That was just hockey game 1958 new year day. Shit that was a long time.
I have to do something?? Actually it’s Sunday I’m gonna be RELAXING
Enjoy your days.

I think to be on the safe side I wouldn't be getting any takeout food as you don't know who is sick and they could be making your food order. Just a thought. A few times now I have thought about getting takeout food as I haven’t been in much of a mood to cook lately and really haven’t been for several months now. However, what you said in your post is what stops me. I feel the same way about the grocery store. I have decided that it’s time for me to start cooking again and fear of the virus is prompting my motivation to do so perhaps sooner than I would done so on my own. Up until today, I have been eating frozen dinners. Geez! With that being said, I have decided I can live with frozen vegetables and canned fruit for a few more weeks (months?) rather than the fresh that someone may have sneezed on or touched. Canned and frozen foods are not my favorite but a lot less risky. Just in case you’re interested...for my first day back at cooking (today), I am making Lar’s favorite Polish dish, “Hunter’s Stew.” The beauty of “Hunter’s Stew” is that you can use whatever leftover meat you may have in your freezer. I happen to have a pork chop, small piece of chuck roast and a chicken breast. It all goes in a dutch oven with onions, apples (onions & apples purchased weeks ago before all of the hysteria and I have eaten a few and I’m still here), bacon, sauerkraut and a bottle of beer. According to the Polish cookbook I use, it is to be served with hearty bread and a COLD GLASS OF VODKA. LOL! I will substitute and have an icy bottle of brew with my “Hunter’s Stew” tonight. Whenever I would tell Lar I was planning on making “Hunter’s Stew” he would tell me to “be sure you make enough so we have leftovers.” LOL! Oh how that man loved my cooking...and oh how I loved that man.

Fresh frozen veggies are better then fresh unless you get them local. Frozen veggies are packed at their prime. Produce may be sitting in the walk in refrig for awhile and not be at their peak.
