Man, my commute this morning was a bear. Happily ensconced at my desk now.
Hang in there, people. Take care and stay (relatively) sane.

Morning is broken. Which is fitting, I guess. Going to Costco to gas up the truck and get food during its new senior hours this morning. Hopefully that will help with the crowds. Then back to to trailer to shelter in place. One of these days I need to figure out a time to go to Kaiser for a blood draw to check my INR. Going into a clinic right now worries me.

Good morning. Diane's at our grocery for the new senior hour (it's 6:30 here). I've worked the crossword puzzle and had some coffee. After Diane gets back, no one in the house should need to go to any more public places for a week. Have as good a day as circumstances permit.

Each day, coming to work is getting lonelier. I stopped at an unstaffed gas station near my home, bought cheap fuel with a credit card. When I got to my parking garage downtown, the only vehicles belonged to construction workers erecting several nearby projects. Once in the skyways, I noticed a Caribou Coffee shop was open, so I picked up a cold brew and chatted a bit with two very lonely baristas. Later in the morning, I checked the website of a breakfast & burger spot across the street, and they were open (!), though with limited 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. hours, so I hiked over there and bought a nice to-go meal that I just scarfed.
In our very large newsroom, as far as I can tell, it's one online reporter and me.
Oh, and I appear to be growing a beard.

Doing my part to support local artists. I gave barb (local artist) a page from an old song book and had her draw my guitar on it. Usually this is done on old dictionary pages (dictionary art) but I wanted mine on a music background. I've included her business card in case anyone else would like to get their favorite instrument drawn. she also does portraits of dogs, horses cats, chickens and many other things.

Still in Wilmington NC. I started binging on Orphan Black in my motel room and missed the fuel truck. I’ll get out of here later today.

On this morning's run I crested a hill only to find myself nearly face-to-face with a young doe standing on the trail in front of me. My sudden approach didn't scare her off, so I just stood there for a minute or so and watched her from a distance of maybe 30 ft. She would look up at me occasionally, but then would put her head back down and continue to munch on a bit of greenery at her feet. Since she was obviously not afraid of me, I decided to try to step closer to her. One step at a time, pausing in between, I eventually closed the gap by maybe ten feet before she finally started to walk -- not run -- away. I walked past her, still at about a ten foot distance. When I finally got all the way on the other side of her, I began running again. She just watched me run off.

John the deer whisperer!
Going into the office. Easy to maintain 6 feet of distance and clean my digits after contacting common surfaces. Business is falling off. Courts are limiting the types of matters that they will deal with. I serve as arbitrator for few counties, but that is going to be difficult given that we do not want to be in groups. I had considered adding "Zoom" to my equipment, but there are reviews that suggest there could be privacy issues, i.e. the "host" has a bit too much access to information on the participants' computers.

Kind of a slow day here at the home office. I have been dusting off the arrangement of "Staten island Hornpipe" that was taught to me by the late great Orrin Star, about 18 years ago, while I wait for articles to trickle into my Inbox.

Tigard Costco was a clusterf#&k. Gas was easy and relatively cheap, but there were over a couple hundred people in line 15 minutes before they were to open the doors at 8:00. The parking lot was gridlocked, with people getting pissed and using there horns. I left.
Got my INR done at Beaverton Kaiser, which was pretty empty. They are screening as you walk in, by asking if you are coughing or have a fever.
Stopped at Bannings and picked up a veggie omelet to split with Nita, and a Club sandwich for lunch. Back at the trailer watch tv now.

Going nowhere today. Slept in. Paying bills. Watched some of the virtual town hall on Fox. Planning tomorrow's run to Walmart for a prescription and groceries. Yesterday I participated in my first meeting of our HOA Finance Committee. Four of us on the committee and no jerks. Three of us met on the clubhouse patio and sat 6 feet apart. The other member phoned in because he just returned from travel. Later in the day the HOA board met on Zoom. Mr. H and I checked in for over an hour before we got tired and hungry.

Went to the grocery store this morning. There wasn't much on the shelves. I had expected them to have restocked but the manager said the warehouse was empty too and they didn't know when they might get stock so when what was there is gone, it's gone. We did get some ground beef but it's a DIY kit. Fortunately, being humans, we have tools.
Not a happy camper today so staying away.

I was amused that Costco was not taking returns of toilet paper, only about a 20 minute wait to get in, but no refined sugar or rice. And limiting quantities of some items.
Gov has ordered everyone to stay at home for two weeks except for essential services (we all define that a little differently), my mechanic is still working, but no contact, dropping keys in the night box and paying over the phone :-)
Strange days indeed...y'all have good ones.
