Link gets me to Amazon photos but wants me to open account and start loading pictures. Did me too but click on “ do later” and you’ll eventually get to Wendi. On edit: I already have an Amazon account (Prime etc.) so I didn’t have to create one.

You don't need Prime, but apparently you do need a regular Amazon account to get to the video. I signed in and got there (perhaps after ducking past the various invitations).

That is sweet. Never knew Amazon.com had a share function. I guess "Why not ? ? ?" Interesting. She did great. I'd still much prefer a landscape-mode shot. We'd see all of that love L7-C, and less boring ceiling. But she did great! I know Instagram is set up to prefer portrait mode. Maybe this Amazon share thing is too. At least if allowed a 3 minute video. Instagram limits (or at least it used to) to 60 seconds.

OK, got in. Her guitar looks too clean to be old.

That's really nice. I thought I knew all those intros to standards. I'd never heard that one.

I've told the story of Wendi's L-7 before, but it's worth repeating. About a decade ago, another Augusta teacher, Steve Abshire, was tasked with passing on the guitar of an old colleague who could no longer play (or maybe was dying--I can't recall). The condition was that Steve give it to someone who would perform on it and who would eventually pass it on to another deserving player. The guitar is not to be sold but passed along to a player. Steve (look him up on Google/YouTube) chose Wendi, who at the time was the Swing Week coordinator. (Her day job is running a sign shop with her husband Rik, but she's a long-time pro-level singer/guitarist. Look up Girls from Mars, an Andrews Sisters-style vocal trio.)
We all ooh'd and aah'd at the guitar--it is, as far as I know, all original. That first owner took loving care of it, as does Wendi.
Wendi was a fully competent rhythm player when I first met her 20-some years ago, and she has since studied with Steve Abshire--as has Miss Tess, whose Facebook video concert I linked to a while ago. Steve, in turn, spent his Navy years playing with The Commodores, studied with Herb Ellis, and hung out with Charlie Byrd. He also does an uncanny Walter Brennan impression.

Mines yellow and I tried to clean it once but failed. I'll admit I didn't take great care with it but somehow it survived and still plays fine despite a couple of re-frets.
