As some of you might know faithful wife and I live in a 5th wheel. Almost three years ago we pared our possessions down from a 4 bedroom two story house to a 37' 5'er. We have thrown or given away quite a collection of "stuff". We still have some things in a storage unit and some things are in my parent's old abandoned house which is slowly succumbing to termites, mildew, & rot.
Inside the closet in my old bedroom is my KatrinaCaster and a Blues Jr. tube amp. Last I looked she was beginning to suffer from the humidity and it won't be long before real damage will accrue. My dreams of being the backup vocalist for Runaway Train are a pipe dream so I have decided to let her go.
I have a tendency to anthropomorphize certain items (like guitars) and going with that she has never gotten a chance to sing. I don't believe her first owner could possibly have let her loose because he threw her on a Katrina debris pile when she was barely wounded. That does not speak well of him and I bet he was a poser who had more money than talent. Her next owner rescued her but didn't, doesn't, and never will have the talent to bend her strings and let her sing. I think it is a shame to never let a fine girl like her ever have anyone hear her voice.
So. I propose to give her away. I will even pay the shipping (within reason meaning preferably somewhere in the CONUS)
I don't know of anyone worthy of her. I would like any and all of you interested to submit names of someone to give her a good home. My initial criteria is: 1. They don't have the wherewithal to purchase an American made Telecaster (or it would be a struggle) 2. They play out (before this Covid crap anyway) in front of an audience.
I'm think Sid or J would know someone- a student maybe but it's not limited to them. If any of you know someone who you think needs or deserves a good Tele, please submit their story and let's compile a list. I want to make this a collaborative effort and I encourage opinions on the candidates even if you didn't submit a name.
Mike, I know you expressed interest but I don't need the money and I think you have the resources to get a good electric so I would rather just give her away to someone.
Please let me know if any of you have a candidate.
Thanks, Alan
