I've cobbled together a spindly network of food sources ever since the lockdown began, and consider myself very fortunate to have several delivery options and lots more food pickup options -- plus I have a JOB, am working from home, earning a paycheck and am without any serious medical concerns. Blessed.
On the food shopping front, I've managed to keep my essential supply of Icelandic yogurt on hand, eggs, milk, fresh greens or frozen vegetables, pills from the Walgreens drive-up window, etc.
On the delivery front, I've most often been using a place a couple of miles away called Hearthside, which does their own scratch pizzas, burger plates, comforting but nasty-healthwise fried sides, and my biggest weakness -- BROASTED CHICKEN.
A typical week will see three delivery orders from Hearthside for me. I tip them well and plot them out so each order will be able to extend me several days, in conjunction with what else I have in cookables and leftovers.
They are a non-chain, locally owned, and seem to employ a very diverse cast of staffers -- Hmong, black, Mexican, white, Native, you name it. Their food is really good, their prices are more than fair and their delivery is free (I try to tip them well).
When they opened at noon today for takeout and delivery orders, I called and asked for my usual broasted chicken delivery order, eight-piece dark. Very good sir, 45 minutes, we expect. Thirty minutes later, a car rolls up and a masked twentysomething who has been to my house several times before ambles onto my porch with his thermal pouch, pulls out a paper bag with the goods, and says the total is $13 and some change. I hand him $25 and laughingly say:
"You folks are keeping me alive."
And he says, "You folks are keeping us alive."

I also like the Hearthside but we are too far away for delivery.
Yesterday after getting home from shopping at HyVee DaWife and I cleaned out the fridge. Lots of old stuff that the girls had hid in there. Mostly fast food leftovers kept but never eaten. Did the same with the freezer, same story. We try to keep enough food for a week of meals but with all the junk in there we could not fit that much. Now we could easily get two weeks worth. Wonder how much room we'll save when we clean out the other freezer. I must admit we do order delivery much more often but the choices in our part of town are limited and I'm dead tired of Domino's, but the girls love it.

FYI, Morelli's is opening tomoro, if that helps.

Nice. They offer pre-made frozen Italian dishes that are very reasonably priced and excellent. Plus a good wine selection, not that I get to drink wine anymore.

So in the midst of all the chaos going on up there, people who hardly know each other are helping each other out in mutual support. That story just made my day.

We get takeout about every other day, usually enough to supply leftovers. The cheerfulness of the kids who take the orders and hand over our food is almost as refreshing as the grub (mostly locally-owned Indian, Thai, Mexican, plus Culver's and Olive Garden--don't laugh, their lasagne is quite decent). Ah, to be twenty and immortal again.

Nice story Bill.
I know the covid is not supposed to be a food-borne disease, but I still haven't gotten up the nerve to order anything. If and/or when I do, I think I'll microwave it just to be on the safe side.

We have order in wednesdays around here, to help out the businesses. We’ve employed a variety of folks. Lots of good choices.
On the plus side, our favourite riverside pub, with the deck overlooking the fraser river, is back open. We shall be checking it out soon.

Bill , I am enjoyin your story & the threads
It’s very interesting for the food now. And people are clapping each other backs. And it’s also worry about helping each other. In USA
there are some issues in Mexico Part of that as the pandemic. there isn’t any riots but a lot of stores are closing. I buy vegetables and fruits and a little bit bacon and cheese. I’m not going to restaurants until the flu is done. I’m just incredibly careful.
There’s only about masks - 50% people- never kids

Damn I miss bars. The Oaklyn Manor for one. Back when my wife and I were dating and just about to graduate collitch. We would pedal over to the Manor, order a pitcher of beer and a basket of you-peel-it shrimp then shakily pedal the 5 blocks home. Heaven. No wonder I married her.
