Can we all agree that this is the worst idea in the whole COVID experience? I am agog.

I would not tie this to COVID, because other mass gatherings are just as risky along those lines. Either you support social distancing or you don't, and you don't get a pass for your cause. Whatevs...
That said, even with the shift of a day, the entire event is just rude and tone deaf in the extreme. Juneteenth matters to a significant portion of America, and Tulsa carries tremendous weight because of the massacre in 1921. (I'm not open to entertaining calling it anything other than that).
"But wait, Paul! President Trump doesn't hate black people!"
Maybe, but the narrative says otherwise among many folks who hold Juneteenth dear. For that, and for a host of other reasons, holding a rally in Tulsa anywhere near Juneteenth is *&^%ing mean. My Christianity is officially aghast, as is my Machiavellian side. (Are the two sides reconcilable? Who knows...)

Don't know Tulsa or the venues there but they're supposed to be taking temperatures and issuing masks and hand sanitizer to the attendees. That's more than they did for the protesters or rioters or Spring Breakers. We'll see how it works out in a couple of weeks. It should make a good test for sports venues opening. Will Biden be holding rallies in his basement?

Don't know if it qualifies as "idea", but the many BLM protests-into-riots seem the worst Corona infraction. Taken together, the participants and their contacts constitute a heck of a large swath of folks.

Could be worse, like holding the rally in a nursing home or meat packing plant where most of the cases are.

Of course it’s a terrible idea in so many ways but I bet if everyone wears a mask gets their temp taken, and makes an attempt to distance a bit they will squeak by with just a few cases. Fat chance of that happening.
If no one wears a mask and there is the usual ruckus it probably won’t end very well but like Bruce says we’ll have more data to tell us basically what we already know. Looking at pictures of previous Trump rallies I see a lot of high risk individuals.

But people are gonna do what people are gonna do.

So you are equating impromptu protests involving hundreds of protesters, outside, many masked, with a planned campaign rally by the president of the United States in an enclosed arena for hours, with nearly 20,000 people standing next to each other and chanting and shouting?

What Bill is saying, Aqua, is that not going is not a guarantee to not be infected.

Since it's going to be in an enclosed space with lots of people and little air circulation, which is the perfect Covid-spreading scenario, if I went I would be worried that I might spread the infection to others that didn't go. Co-workers, loved ones, any other people I might be in close proximity to.

Guaranteed not infected. Hah? How many papas are gonna go, how many mamas, with their spouses and kids unwilling to do so, and then the attendee comes home and infects them, or infects co-workers at workplaces?
