Steve, you remember Keys Café near my place, the eatery where the servings are so big that even you brought back leftovers from breakfast? Well, I just ordered a takeout Eggswich from them and it comes with (duh) eggs, sausage, cheese, hashbrowns and a fruit cup. Should last me a couple days.
The bear photo reminds me of a sad news story recently. Alert readers may recall my little localish road trip last Sunday when I was motoring along the St. Croix River. Well, the next day I read about a guy on his Harley, who, on the same stretch of road I was on only a few hours later, put his bike down when a bear ambled on to the highway. He was not wearing a helmet, they airlifted him to St. Paul, and it looked pretty grim for his survival.
So from now on, even though I'm in a car, I'm gonna wear a helmet on that stretch of road.

Surprisingly blue skies this morning, mowing on the agenda. Better days y'all Good morning. Mowing here too. I have about half of it done now. Happy Juneteenth. I wonder if husbands will ever be emancipated. Emasculated already occurs frequently.

Meanwhile in Montana Love, love, love your toenail polish, Steve! Meanwhile in Iowa Local citizens stop traffic so the black bear that's wandering near the quad Cities, can safely cross the highway. The DNR has asked Iowan's to please leave the bear alone.

Good morning.
Keys rather good place for breakfast.
Working on a old Epiphone FT-30 that has had a horrible bridge conversion. Usually a acoustic bridge gets converted from adjustable to non-adjustable, not this one, other way round and not very well done.. The new bridge was a Guild from a much larger guitar and whomever did the replacement epoxied it on. Took me 3 days of heating and carefully lifting a little bit at a time to get it off cleanly. Now I will hand make a new bridge, something I like to do and I've got some very nice EI Rosewood. I offered Brazilian but the customer is not fussy and went for the less expensive East Indian.

Clear and sunny here. As I left for work I noticed that my wife, who works from home, had the office window down and the portable air conditioner going full blast. I just looked away without comment. We have been married 39 years.

Good morning. Steve, you get some hefty javelinas up your way.
I went to our botanical garden this morning. It had been closed since March but is now reopening by appointment only. I read about the newly adopted safety measures and it sounded fine. It was a good experience except for one guy whose idea of six feet away is closer to three feet away.
All's well. Keep on the sunny side.

Played Pickleball this morning. 3rd time this week. Starting to get my mojo back on the court. It's at a place where a lot of competitive people play. 8 courts. All full. Everybody playing doubles. Very few people wearing masks. Playing with strangers. Well, not strangers, because I've come to know most these people over the last couple of years. But still there were 32+ people huffing and puffing for a couple hours.
I do have a slightly scratchy throat at the moment. But I expect that's natural hoarseness from the activity. Oh well. My wife read in the on-line paper this morning that type O blood people seem to be affected less by COVID. I've got that going for me. We'll see.

This is still my morning. 2:30pm MexDayTime. 88°
Today I did read some spunky Soundhole News. It’s interesting. At least I don’t watch TV News on the TV. John Prine said it.
So I guess it’s time for music. Classical jazz and no twang. I was watching all the whole country (music) Wailin‘ Jennys
I’ve been trying to do some Spanish
Gracias

I shadowed Joe this morning. He took me on his route -- the most convoluted route of the 23 Warsaw routes as it winds in and out and around three of the lakes northeast of town. Joe is a very pleasant crazy. He listens to Howard Stern which melds into classic rock as the morning progresses. He drives his own Chrysler minivan from the right side -- his left toe handling the brake and gas, and his left hand on the wheel (no knob like the old guys used to have ). He drives with amazing speed from post to post, never misses a package though he only arranged them in a loosely route-oriented manner. He biffed his side view mirror backing into a mailbox a few years ago. He left it off for convenience. The speed and ease with which he sidles up to a box -- especially with that mirror customization -- is like watching a skilled pitcher teasing and daring his way around a strike zone. I watch -- smiling -- from my vantage point in the back seat. It's always a pleasure to watch an expert at work. It's darn near divine. "The Fed'ral Express man is down on the driveway Out his step van and cursing your name It wasn't the first time you changed his side mirror Into a mirrorless frame"

I'm watching the RBC Heritage golf tourney as I dabble in housework today. One of the players just badly hooked his second shot and clear as a bell, the fairway mic picked up his reaction: "Ahh, fuck me … "

Is it playing in reruns or are they just really slow golfers?

"The Fed'ral Express man is down on the driveway Out his step van and cursing your name It wasn't the first time you changed his side mirror Into a mirrorless frame" Most of the rural mail carriers around here have Jeeps, all with the steering, etc, on the right side. Apparently there's a place in St. Louis whose business it is to shift things in that direction. I have no idea who pays for that. Will you be using your own vehicle?

Will you be using your own vehicle? I think I will -- especially at first. As long as I'm a temp, my ticket to full employment (40-50 hours a week) is to be willing to deliver packages anywhere and be willing to sub on any route. They'll pay for my mileage. If I get lucky enough to actually score a regular route and be a full time employee (benefits, etc), I would probably choose a rural route and go out and buy a minivan for the routes. I'd still get paid for it by the mile and it's sort of a no-brainer that the route would pay for the vehicle. 'Til then, I'll see if I can get by with my van. It's actually too big for the job. On the plus side -- I can carry all the packages for all the routes in one load. There are a number of pluses to getting the full time gig. One of the big ones is that most of the routes take less than 6 hours a day to complete but get paid for 8. That means that almost every driver is actually getting paid for 10 hours a week that they aren't actually working. But it also means that the day is short enough to get other stuff done in a life. One of the mail carriers is also a full time EMT. Two full-time jobs, both with the same kind of truncated hours.
