I like the song, and of course, guys in skirts are always fun, but I cannot understand anyone's attraction to the sound of bagpipes.

I got the ads. This goes far to show the Scotch-Irish influence of Appalachian music.
Reminds me of the Stanley Brothers' "The Darkest Hour is Just Before Dawn." (Also I Am a Pilgrim). I wonder to what extent the composers heard their forebears sing that melody as they were growing up, or songs much like it.

Right, let's not go there. Ha ha! I have always liked banjos. And guys in skirts playing banjos (Yes, drlj, I know that is your old band name from the 60s) would likely be a hoot. But there is something grating about bagpipes. How many hours of bagpipes must one listen to in order to get over that?
