Sore from finally finishing (mostly) the deer fence in the critical parts of the orchard, hopefully before the deer have ruined the trees.
Better days y'all

I am on my second cup of coffee and I still can’t face the day.***

Not everyone knows (much less cares) that there's this "message requests" section of the private message inbox on facebook. It's where people who are not "friends" can contact you. I doubt anyone is any better than I am about checking it. I checked it this morning and found this message:
I'm guessing that I got this guy's message.

Good morning.
It's the 6th Saturday this week for us retirees and it's already 92 degrees out so I'm not planning any outdoor work today. The wife just got up so my plans may change.
Went for a swim/drink/swim/drink at Scotch O'clock yesterday. The pool was a little cooler than the air but not much. Heard thunder over the bay and cut the swim short but we got nothing. Looking at the radar it was like we had the shields up and they were working. A cell would be headed toward us but then it would break apart, one part going out North of us and the other going out South of us. The frequent thunder continued for 4 hours but we got nothing. We need some rain really but since the grass doesn't appear to need mowing there's an up side.
I think I mentioned an unexpected UPS delivery and it arrived. A nephew sent me a book "The Lost Fleet" which is the story of the whaling fleet getting iced in in Alaska the winter of 1871-72 and the back story of my only song "Dear Sarah" about my great grandfather, a whaling captain, working his way home to New Bedford after losing his ship to the ice. Guess I'll have to read the book but I haven't checked if it has large print yet. Totally unexpected gift. That nephew plays guitar but mostly Bluegrass. He has a custom-made Martin, done by Martin, but he's a Philadelphia lawyer so I guess he can afford it.
Have a safe Saturday.

Relocated my bird feeder this morning after the coon? Attack on it last week. If this don't work I'll dig out my coon trap and teach it a lesson.

One and a half inches of rain last night, no hail or high winds so the main body of the storm skirted by to the north.
Nice hot day today with low wind. Good for paddling.

Looking to be a hot and humid day here, with thunderboomers lurking, so I got up and did what needed to be done, picked up furnace filters at Ace, a cold brew at Mudslinger's and groceries at Cub (including polska kielbasa, Jan, in ring form, of course ). Pretty dandy Indycar race from Des Moines last night, they'll do one more tonight. We got some rain overnight -- the neighborhood is SO green!

I hope you picked up some fine sauerkraut (with caraway seeds in it) to go with. I went grocery shopping this morning after my workout at the gym. I bought two thick pork chops to bake with the sauerkraut I didn’t use up last Sunday when I cooked Polska Kielbasa. I love caraway seeds. I also bought Rye bread with caraways seeds in it.

Rye bread and caraway seeds? Two of my unfavored bitter foods. I'm fine with the sausage and unadulterated sauerkraut. Tonight's dinner will be artichokes from Trader Joe's, shrimp scampi, pasta, and a small tossed salad. Wine of the still or sparkling variety will be consumed.
Nothing but the usual on today's schedule. Too much Facebook, some reading, some guitar picking, some keyboard plunking. Walk is done, dishes are done. Looking for ways to fill in another day.

Good afternoon. Rained like crazy here early this morning but not a bit of water on the shop floor. Buddy Dan fixed the window well guard and covered the thing too. Now I don't have to move things in the shop so they won't get wet. I think DaWife is going to let me go grocery shopping with her. Now I don't blame her for not wanting to shop with me, I'm slow as death in busy places so I don't get knocked down. I get to pick out some nice steaks, nice thick T-bones. My Doc wants to try cutting down on starchy foods, bread, pasta, rice & corn to see if that helps my sleep problems. I'll give it a try but no tortillas, shit. I can have small amounts but it's still a bummer. But I do get to heft up on protein, I'm kinda skinny after my ordeals, even my 34" jeans are too big and the 36" ones won't stay up without a belt. Pine Island 92F.
