Can't help but wonder how Jan's first day went. Off to work. Not bad for an old family doc.

Made fish, salads and rice for dinner. I usually push on the salads, since that's the only good serving of veggies all day (and we never use lettuce in out salads). Today was cuke, broc, string beans and tomato, and I added some peco romano to mine. Fish was 'saba', some kind of mackerel.
Earlier I spent about two hot hours on a line of bushes out front--trimming, shaping, and then cleaning up (the hard part). Trying not to damage the flowers alongside too much. I didn't get it all done, but it's the easier end of it that remains for another day. Along in there it hit 32, which I think is about 90.

Can't help but wonder how Jan's first day went. Off to work. Not bad for an old family doc. Doc, the orientation went well. It was the facility orientation and I was one of a few hired for various departments. It was very basic, i.e., tour the facility (it’s HUGE), Fire safety, etc. We even watched videos on how to treat treat patients and peers respectfully. It’s a sad commentary those type of videos need to be shown, but I understand where it stems from. Day two today - I would imagine Infection Control and such will be covered today. Day three is the orientation day that I am really looking forward to. This orientation is not yet scheduled. That day I meet the rehab team, get refreshed on the EMR and I will shadow an OTR and a Respiratory Therapist on the “Ventilator Unit.” This facility is licensed to have a ventilator unit. I have no experience working with patients on ventilators (and I told the rehab director this). She asked if I would be willing to learn (OF COURSE). So I am very excited. I have to say, it feels good to be getting back in the swing of things. I am very much looking forward to treating patients again. Because I am Blessed in that I can spend 45-60 minutes with a patient, I have always enjoyed the opportunity it provided to talk to patients and learn about their lives while they do their therapy. I have missed that. My hours will be minimal but I think that is just perfect for me right now. I pulled out my white lab jackets and washed them up this past weekend. I am looking forward to wearing them again too.

Go Jan, so happy for you finding that "right" job. As for me, yesterday I cancelled all my work until at least Oct. Work requires to much close contact. Guess I'll have more time at the cabin and bike riding!

Good morning. The monsoon has set in here. Yesterday it was cloudy with isolated sprinkles and this morning is the same. It's welcome. We've had beautiful red skies two mornings in a row.
Last evening we celebrated my son's birthday with one daughter joining us in the backyard and another on the speakerphone. It worked surprisingly well.
Enjoy your day.

Good morning.
Still miserably hot here with no end in sight so it's a "Normal" July.
Wasted 6 1/2 hours of my life yesterday trying to make a video with my tablet since my PCs don't sync the audio and video. Recorded a song and then tried to send it to my PC via Bluetooth, which took 45 minutes. It did sound better through the PC than through the tablet, the tablet speakers being crap, so I was going to put it up on Facebook for comments. That was taking forever so after 2 hours I gave up and put it on Youtube instead, which only took an hour and a half and at least it did upload. I hadn't posted anything to Youtube in years and it's not as easy as it used to be and now you have to schedule release and say whether it's safe for all ages and stuff like that. Anyway I got it posted and put the link on Facebook. That being late last night I didn't see feedback until this morning. Dave Sewell noted that the audio and video are in sync and said it sounded good but asked when I became left handed and noted that my wedding ring is on the wrong hand. OK, it's a mirror image because I used the wrong camera on the tablet. Sometimes I wish I was a teenager so I'd know how to work all this "New" shit.
Have a safe Tuesday.

Good morning.
Woke up to the sound of gentle rain, and that's as poetic as I get. Now I need coffee and a bit to eat before I head down to the shop.
Since DaWife cooked last night I'll probably cook tonight. Either T-bone steak and salad or shrimp scampi and pasta.
Everyone have a good day
Good news Jan.

Powerwashing the rest of yesterday's rock haul is first up.
We've had bear visits many times over the years but last night was a first, knocked over our grill on the porch, busted some parts. Work on that after the rocks.
Cheers

Enjoy your Tuesday morning day
Drop Your Negative Stories The more we learn to let go of thoughts, the more we gain the ability to drop our negative stories. As we continue to practice, we may begin to catch ourselves earlier in the chain—perhaps even noticing dislike at the feeling level and choosing a mindful response rather than automatic reaction
Enjoy your Tuesday afternoon evening nighttime and Wednesday et al.

Ken, You are on fire today!!
I need lots of rain. I just bought a drift boat and all the darn rivers in Oregon are too low to run. All the camp spots at lakes are booked through September. I might have to run back to one of those Midwest states with a 10,000 lakes. Kind of a long haul for a weekend though.

Off to university of iowa neurology department for follow up. Still in pain, no end in sight. Don't know how long this will take.
Cloudy, light rain, 70 degrees when I left the house this morning.

Another warm day in W OR. Got a phone appt for a Chat with our “new” Merrill Lynch advisor. Our old Merrill advisor was a family friend and Vice President. But she is retiring. so...
After that I get to take the daughter unit to Home Depot in the truck to pick up some plywood to repair her coop. A raccoon got in and killed a duck, so...
That’s pretty much the day. Left over ribs for dinner.

Huge probs with my computer connection to the paper's mothership today -- been locked up for almost three hours, IT on the case. Of course, this happens in a week where we're down significantly in desk power due to vacations.
