...has anyone ever walked across a lawn, not realized there was a rake lying on the lawn, stepped on the business end of the rake just right, and had the handle come up and whap them in the face?
As a child, I just accepted that this was a commonplace occurrence. In more recent years, I'm starting to think the whole thing is nothing but a concoction.

I did that with a shovel, as an adult. The incident left a large bruise on my face. My coworkers wondered if Diane and I had been getting along.

Never seen it happen but just the other day I was walking down the street and a safe fell on the head of a guy next to me.

I've had a piano fall on me, well not exactly as I wasn't standing directly on the X on the ground.

Yes, but it was in a garden, and it hit my crotch

I almost had a safe fall on me. Fortunately, I slipped on a banana peel just then and slid to safety.

What's curious is that when you step off a ledge, without realizing you've stepped off a ledge, you're given a moment of reprieve before falling to your death.
But when a safe, piano, or anvil falls on your head, the result is instantaneous.

The only time I ever experienced that rake-to-the-head thing couldn't have come at a more fortuitous time. I had been experiencing amnesia from an anvil having fallen on my head. Thankfully, it was the rake to the head restored my memory.

Hey, I just saw a beagle float by my window on scent waves.

Aggressive following of the beagle will net you a cherry pie.
Or at least a fight over a cherry pie.

"Why did you leave a shovel lying around in your office?"
Because there was so much BS there.
(No, it was in the back yard.)

One thing you won't catch me doing again is following some guy into a tunnel.
Learned that lesson the first time.
