majorminor: I'm gearing up for the last workday of the week and listening to Steve Earle's "Fort Worth Blues" and thinking of the great recording you contributed to that commemorative CD we all made for Christine. I think I am going to dig that out later and have a listen.
And... it's Friday.

I got out on the street while folks still had their headlights on. That's the only way to run 6 miles when the temperatures are like they are. I've got a friend stopping by soon to pick up the old banjo and stacks of Acoustic Guitar Magazines. Then I'm running up to Dowagiac, MI to buy 50 5 gallon buckets to store my dry chemicals.

Second horseback riding lesson today. Wearing new helmet today.
Thinking of checking out the shooting range only two miles from where I take my lessons. Until now, I have only done practice shooting at indoor ranges. I don't know if I'll shoot or not. I'd like to just see what's it like.
Last week when I was taking my riding lesson, I could hear the gun shots from the range. It WORRIED me that the sound of those shots might scare the horses. It seems to scare them in the movies. My instructor said, 'Nah, they're used to it." "My farm is nextdoor to the range where Sheriff's do their practice shooting."
Have a good day everyone.

Up early today so we can get our walk done, have breakfast, etc. before I take Mr. H for a dermatology checkup. Since he has cataracts in both eyes in addition to his wet macular degeneration, he doesn't feel comfortable driving. So I'll be driving Mister H until the cataracts are taken care of. One scheduled for early October and one for early November. He will get tested for COVID before each one and he has an appointment to get measured/scanned for the artificial lens for the right eye. The left eye is a secondary cataract after having the surgery two years ago. I am available to be his driver. I don't have much going on these days. Eventually the weather will get cooler and waiting in the parking lots won't be so bad. Today I will probably drop him off, as it's only a mile from our house.

It is going to be hot again. I plan on doing as little as possible today. It is good to have a plan.

The last 5 doors for a hot job are thru the CNC and my ass is headed to the Lauchsau River in Idaho. Anybody got a problem with that?

Good morning. I was up and out early to beat the heat. This morning I went to the Desert Botanical Garden, arriving at 6:00 and staying until 8:00. It was very pleasant.
On the good news front, it looks like our superhot / superdry weather may finally be ending as of tomorrow.
Enjoy your day.

For some reason I was thinking about this last night -- during weeks like this where you and Renee live, what do you set the thermostat at? Do you close off unused rooms like we do here in the winter?

Bill, we usually have the thermostat set at about 75. We use every room so there's nothing to close off. That's a good idea with unused rooms.
