Terry's thread about "Bosch" got me thinking about this. I never was a major TV watcher, but typically would watch a few hours after work sitcoms etc., maybe watch a recorded 2-3 hour movie on Fri or Sat night, and watch news/football on Sunday while puttering around the house. I just realized I've watched about 2 hours of TV this month so far. At 55, I think I could give it up and watch downloaded paid content when the mood struck. Can I come over to your place for Superbowl Sunday and election night?

I watch TV news every night. I skip thru the death and destruction and go for Weather and Sports.
Sue and I get into NetFlix lately. I watched the Vikings Sea Hawks last night. Sorry Minnie people. Exciting game. I'll watch the Bears, if they are worth watching. Cubs and White Sox fizzled out too soon. Bulls never made the Bubble.
We get HBO. There are some interesting things on there from time to time. When we got HBO, Game of Thrones was in season 8. Sue was not interested in it. So I watched 8 seasons of episodes one a night (5 nights a week) until I caught up at the end. A good way to watch. You can really follow the story. You don't have to wait 6 months for the next season to pick up the pieces.

Network TV (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) hardly ever. It's Prime, Netflix, Disney, (for the Avengers... over and over again) and PBS cable.

Sometimes I'll watch network news. Especially if something is going on. I used to watch NBC. I like Lester Holt. But the other correspondents not so much. CBS national seems to have a better crew. Then I'll flip over to Fox to see what their take is on whatever. Always interesting to see the complete opposite opinions. Reminds me of my brother and mother arguing. I'll hear about it afterwards from each of them. Their stories are so totally opposite, I have to wonder if they were on the same planet.

We just get the basic cable channels. I probably watch 2-3 hours per week. The only quasi-news I watch is Washington Week because my wife likes it. Nature and occasional cooking shows on PBS make up the remainder. Election night is always an exception to my routine.
I get my news from the internet. Most of my entertainment consists of reading. TV doesn't really fill any need. I pay a price for not watching more of it, though, when I work crosswords or play trivia.

Incidentally, none of my three kids watches much TV. One is an internet addict and the other two are readers. Don't know why.

Car shows are my downfall -- Overhaulin', Fantomworks, Garage Squad, Bitchin' Rides, Iron Resurrection, Fast n Loud, etc. It is VERY rare for me to run across an episode I haven't seen previously with any of those.
It's the only way I can kinda justify my outrageous Comcast bill.

We don’t subscribe to cable and we don’t own a TV set. Haven’t seen cable since 2006 except for inescapable TV screens in public places. In hotels, we never even turn the TV sets on.
This is quite liberating and we don’t feel as though we are missing anything of any importance. The problem with TV is that it’s usually on and can suck you in. You’re walking through the room and glimpse a M*A*S*H rerun that you’ve seen enough times to know the dialog by heart but it’s one of your favorites so you sit down and watch. But you don’t leave when it’s over, you sit through two more hours of reruns or something that soon will be a rerun and the time you spent is gone.
We stream movies and interesting content on an iPad while sitting at the table. We use a HiFi Bluetooth speaker for the audio. It works great for a single movie, PBS program, or YouTube musical video then were up doing whatever we’d planned. I’ve always preferred newspapers to TV news so I read newspapers on my iPad too. Easy to find and read and I don’t have newspapers piling up in the garage waiting for the annual school paper drive. (Do they still have those?)
Being without TV in the age of the Internet and World Wide Web is actually quite liberating. The only danger is the possibility of getting caught up in some off-the-wall guitar forum. Now that would suck up many hours you’d never get back.

It's been years since I watched Steve's TV. But you still have it in your living room, don't you?

The only thing I’d add to Bill’s list is the Big Bang Theory and the British shows, ie Midsummer Murders, Vera, Endeavor, etc. Mike

We're just far enough out of the cities that the TV antenna is spotty, and having an eagle try to sit on one arm didn't help. The Vikings don't always broadcast on the same channel, so sometimes we can watch it and others we can't. Last night we couldn't get it. Just as well, since it was an evening game, I would have gone to bed at halftime when we were winning anyway.
Other than that, it's Netflix and Prime. Old Perry Mason shows are dominant right now.

Just Amazon and Netflix on my computer these days. The TV quit working about a month ago which was shortly after my little indoor digital TV antenna would not pull in signals anymore. I do miss football. I might make a trip into our attic to see if the prior owner's analog TV antenna can be rigged to a digital TV. If so, I might grab a new $250 TV set.

About a month ago the here anyway changed something in their transmitters and people with antennas were told to re-scan their TVs. It didn't affect DirecTV for me because they took care of it but antenna people lost local channels unless they had the TV re-scan and find the channels again. I think that assumes recent TVs that can scan the channels. You might check local stations and see if that's why you lost them.

Don't watch much TV these days, particularly with the demise of sports into stupid, pandering millionaires.
Except the occasional Trump rally like the one going on in Florida right now. Damn that's a lot of people. Seems the 'Rona ain't scaring anybody anymore.
Go figure.
