Another tune from my friend and teacher Wendi Bourne and the Girls from Mars, written by yet another teacher, Rebecca Kilgore. In fact, the trumpeter is the only one I haven't taken a workshop with. (I miss Augusta Swing Week more than Christmas and my birthday combined.)

Wonderful Russ. Horn players get all the chicks. Is that a chocolate doughnut mute?

Wendi was the program coordinator for years and a vocal teacher before that. (She stepped down when her first grandchild was born.) One year, the whole Girls From Mars trio taught the vocal workshop--that was quite a week.
Rebecca Kilgore, who wrote the song, is Portland-based and has performed and recorded a lot with Dave Frishberg. She was the vocal teacher the last year Augusta was in-person. A real sweetheart and a hell of a singer. Good guitarist, too.

They have the same taste in wallpaper.
Our church band people are using the Acapella App to make videos. I'm not enamored with it. You're just using the mic on your iphone and the selfie camera. Editing capabilities are mediocre. It's kind of a kiddy program. But it allows people around the world to collaborate.
