I was thinking about hair curling, aye? How many “a”s in Canada. When you’re spelling.....I think it’s 11, aye?
I didn’t even read the link. It’s amazing that curling is Olympic sport.

Curling is mostly called off this year due to the virus and the people who contracted it at the nationals last winter. They still plan to have a nationals in March, I think, but the location hasn't been decided. They have asked my son to officiate because he's one of the younger officials they have. He'll be 50 in January. He'll have to take the job because he's still trying to get enough experience to do the worlds in Scotland and the Winter Olympics. He knows he'll have to show up a week early and quarantine for a week but his boss said he could take his laptop and work from his hotel room so it won't cost him an extra week's vacation time.

Nice, Bruce.
I quite enjoy the sport. It’s casual and fun, requires a lot of skill, and sweeping is a decent little workout.

The fact that they were all named Kim didn't help matters, officials said.

As I recall the Russian women’s team had some pretty hot curlers and Canada had a couple of Cougars.
I actually really got into watching it. We have a curling club here and I think Post pandemic I am going to try it.

I always thought it was cool that Bruce's son is an official. That's as close to curling I'll ever get.
I don't seek it out, but if I run across it on TV, which is a rare occasion, I find it a bit mesmerizing. Like watching fish in an aquarium while waiting in the doctor's office. Which is not a bad thing.

My son has a team, Team MacNeill, but their ice is closed down this winter due to the virus, His team isn't Olympic material but the one game we did go to they won so we got free drinks. THey've done pretty well at a couple of "Bonspiels" (SP) or tournaments that have been available on-line. At least Alan knows he's Scottish and it's a Scottish game. He actually got into it when he was working in Omaha back in the early 90s. His stature is kind of like Rob's so he can't get down on his knee to push the stones and uses a stick to push them which is OK for amateurs but to compete in the real games you have to use your hands. Since he's the "Skip", team captain, he gets to point to where he wants the other player to aim the rock and doesn't have to sweep much. His wife tried it but didn't get into it.

In the sentence, "Drama in the curling world", I like to think of "curling" as an adjective.

My granddaughter in Denver sent me this-
Q: How do you keep strips of bacon from curling in the frying pan
A: Take away their little brooms

When my wife and I were in nursing school together, our favorite professor was this lovely middle aged woman who would invite several of us over for breakfast now and again. She would fry bacon which tasted normal but would not curl one tiny bit. We would watch her and could not figure out what she would do to keep the bacon flat and straight.
