Interesting remarks about MN’s own J Olson. Thanks, I enjoyed it a lot. James your posts are surprisingly concise but overall I have always been fascinated with the British love of language and theatrical speaking. Lovely to listen to when you are not in a hurry but I have found that a typical one hour British instructional or interview YouTube video would probably run about ten minutes if done by an American and yield the same information (but be nowhere nearly as entertaining)

Heh 🙂 I can natter on quite a bit but am a lazy typist. Martin Simpson lived in New Orleans for a while and I think I recall him saying that its denizens were masters of long-winded, good natured rambling. He may have polished his technique there a bit.

I got to work on Martin's Sobel guitar, just minor stuff, loose fret or something.
That thing rang like a bell, very piano like tone. Lots of arch in the top and built in tension. The only other maker I've heard that builds that kind of tension into his guitars is Tippin.

Cool. Frazer has a Sobell I think? I had a very brief twang on one of Martin's a long time ago, as he tried my Kinkade guitar. I felt a bit nervous. Taut indeed. The Sobell had a four piece Brazilian back.
