Bill, I came "this close" to selling my Om18v -- but didn't and I now hope I never will -- despite the string spacing issues which I've adjusted to, this is still the best sounding guitar I've ever owned. When Doug Young tells me to keep him in mind if I ever sell it -- I know it's pretty good.
El McMeen would be so proud of you -- he went through a "J" Martin period and an "M" martin period a while back. Hopefully this guitar gigs well for you. the cutaway and extra 2 frets is what you need/use -- I was never convinced the Barbarossa would be a lasting altenrative to the Goodall. Problem now is you're going to really like that Martin a lot and you may have take back some of those great things you said about G2. NOT!

Thanks, Tim -- I've been playing the newbie here for a half-hour or so and it is a little stiff in the action, but not bad at all, and I am sure that will be a matter of adjusting to it.
I wonder if bone nut and saddle would do much ... whatchoo think? I always wanted a Corian kitchen, but I am not as enthusiastic about a Corian nut.

Bone saddle -- don't bother wit the nut -- you probabaly capo enough to negate the benefit. keep the orginal saddle as bone saddle sometimes don't work as well with undersaddle pick-ups -- I assume that's what you have to blend with the internal mic.

Yeh, it has a piezo in addition to the movable mike. Gonna play around with that tonight. There is four-band EQ, too, so it's kinda like having my Taylor 314CE back!

I tried to post a reply but I kept falling off my chair for about a 1/2 hour or so. What other strange things are going to occur? Should we all be frightened or run to the nearest church? When you walked out of Willie's was there any thunder and lightening? All I can say is enjoy it and use it in good health.

Bill, maybe you might even want to look at a real Martin like an OM18GE, or a nice OM-42 (rosewood, you know)......and yes, ask El, he still likes his martins a bit....I might even let you play one of mine.

Congrats Bill, I think the 16 series Martins are the best buy out there. It will open up a lot over the next few months so expect that. I hope it does what you want the guitar to do in your playing. Drop me an email and I'll get you some information on how to join the Martin Owner's Club.

Joel -- Now, let's not go to extremes here. Just because I happened to find a Thalidomide Martin that works for me doesn't mean I plan to extend carte blanche endorsement to everything coming out of CFM World Domination Compound. I've played some of El's Martinis, and they are nice, but gimme a break, NO ONBOARD TUNERS?!?!? People, this is 2006!

Nice one Bill...hold on thats not a Maton! I take it back now that i see you`ve gone to the darkside. You do know that once you get a Martin you turn into what amounts to a train spotter..I`ve seen the forums.
Seriously..do we get some real pics and sounds?

Nice looking guitar and I'm certain it sounds grrrreat. Millring said: Bill, I came "this close" to selling my Om18v -- but didn't and I now hope I never will -- despite the string spacing issues which I've adjusted to, this is still the best sounding guitar I've ever owned. I've had mine for a year and although I had difficulty at first switching between it and my OOO-28 with confidence because of the different scale lengths and string spacing, I'm now more secure with it. The OM-18V is such a loud guitar full of snap and crackle, that I can't see me ever selling or trading it - but then I've never been one to sell guitars. Cheers!

Jay, my sometimes Africa travelling companion, has that very guitar which I have played numerous times. It's so good it's scary. Balanced, delightful singing tone and great dynamic range. Plays easily too.

Looks nice Bill. I too was once a Martin owner-multiples of the things-including a J40 which I still think about. However my old ears have now turned into wet socks and I need more snap in my guitar tones than rosewood can give me. Be sure and let us know how it performs plugged in at a gig.
