Five cities have not been destroyed. There has been property damage, but five cities have not been destroyed. Boy, that's picking flyshit out of the pepper. That is a mild rebuke to a post filled from top to bottom with unhinged exaggeration. But such are the "facts" you rely on.

It isn't odd that a frustrated person goes over the top and posts hyperbolically.
What is odd that is that you don't seem to be able to recognize absurd exaggerations as the absurd exaggerations they are when they reinforce your own absurdity. Odd is the wrong word. I'll pass on the right one.
John B was "picking flyshit out of the pepper"? Wow. That does explain much.

Not to veer off-topic, but that's the funniest expression I've heard in a very long time.
Carry on.

Veer away. That's what this place is all about.

The police shouldn't need an undi fund. They should be paid well enough to buy their own undies.

They have to pay for them now, since the Knapp Commission hearings.

Agreed. Sadly, I have very little influence over the Mayor's office and City Council.

I'm reminding myself that you need about 1.5 times as much income to live in NYC as in most places.
Until a few years ago, the starting salary for teachers in one of our best school districts was under 30K. They finally managed to get it slightly above that figure.

Seems like hardly enough for what they have to endure. New York teachers definitely have better salaries and benefits than slightly above $30K a year.
Again from http://www.nyc.gov:
For 2019-20, starting salaries for teachers range from $57,845 (bachelor's degree, no prior teaching experience) to $87,510 (master's degree, eight years teaching experience, plus additional coursework). New teachers with a master's degree but no prior teaching experience will earn $65,026.

Maybe some years ago now, but omaha/jeff had some things to say about retirement payouts for police, and the kind of 'nest egg' required in order to fund that.

And if the government doesn't plunk down the required yearly investment it goes south in a hurry. I read years ago that Illinois' pension funds were not contributed to, so every citizen of Illinois would need to write a check for $10k to fully fund the state pensions. That's $40k for a family of 4.

Nancy and I spent July 31-August 3 in Chicago and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. (And survived.) Meanwhile, Wednesday in Frankfort, Indiana, population 16,204, two women were shot and killed arriving for work at an auto seat factory. None of us know where we are safe. I am avoiding Kabul right now, but I've got a life to live so I try not to draw too small a bubble around myself.
