A clear, crisp 52 degrees at the cabin this morning. Steam is rising from the lake, as I sit looking out the big picture window with a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee in my hand.
I know what it feels like. We were without power for 10 days last summer as a result of the derecho. It was also a very hot and humid period. Brutal. It was complicated by my being hospitalized and discharge required an oxygen concentrator at home but…
Glad you’re up and running.
“Life isn't waiting about for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.”
- Saskia Fraser
“I think [life is] more like a bar crawl, where you stumble and swerve from stop to stop. And then end up face down in some random ditch at the end.”
I’m working same old stuff. I don’t have much to say.
We look at the outside clues that people show and make up stories. The stories are just stories. Interconnected. Making up stories is what human beings do. But, if we are wise, we can slow down, remember stories and learn.
The rain missed Tucson, but we did get about 3/4 of an inch the night before.
Today's plans include a Costco run and dinner at a yet to be determined restaurant. Last night's choir rehearsal went well, even though 10 singers are barely a choir. This Sunday will be our first live singing at a church service in 18 months, which means my first time because I joined during virtual times. We made the group decision that we'll wear masks for that, so it will be a muffled hymn. Last night our director asked me to join the Tucson Masterworks Chorale, which he also directs. I hope I didn't make a mistake by saying no. I've explained here how tremendously busy I got with my previous community chorus. Don't want to go down that hole again.
Another day of not doing too much. We had a brief shower during the night, but all we ended up with is more humidity than I can handle. So I will probably pick lots of guitar today.

Then I wonder, "Why is steam rising from the lake? That ain't natural, is it?"
Then, a rumbling sound is followed by a loud earth-shaking crack and a geyser erupts firing a steaming tower of water 80 feet into the air.
"Nope, this ain't natural, not even in Iowa. Better call Todd."
There is a big all-day rain system covering western MN and the eastern Dakotas. Wonderful, wonderful. I will be inside working on my Latin and playing trombone (the two go together so well).

Sitting here awaiting delivery of a new printer. My 20 year old Epson has been having problems for awhile, not feeding paper, gaps in the printing even with new ink cartridges. Staples had an Epson printer/scanner on sale yesterday for $129, which after adding ink and paper was $247 but I ordered one which is supposedly out for delivery today. I'll believe it when I see it. They also sent an e-mail with a form to print out and post for the driver if no one is home to tell the driver where to leave the packages. It occurred to me that if I could print out the form I wouldn't have ordered a new printer yesterday.
Ida pretty much missed us yesterday and I have cleaned the leaves out of the pool this morning. Best wishes to those in the flooded areas North of here.
Anyway, I'm still alive and probably don't agree with you on much. Just killing time and checked in.
I just finished my weekly Zoom breakfast meeting. One participant is a retired oncologist. He says booster shots are already being given out pretty freely here. He's gotten his. There's no shortage of vaccine and they're still having to throw some vaccine away because of insufficient demand for vaccines in general. I didn't quite catch whether you have to wait until six months after your last shot to get the booster.
Ravi the ageless wonderkat and loudmouth crank handle is getting vaccinations at the vet. He doesn't like it, but his freedom is less important than his and my health.
