I haven't worked for about 18 months and it's been about a year since I announced that I was retired. I didn't shut my business down but I went to a "contract avoidance " mode of operation.
Then, a few weeks ago I was getting ready to go to bed one night when I received a instant message on my phone. The message was from a gal that I've worked with in the past. She is part of a new research company and she said they needed a Subject Matter Expert on rf, especially HF, and my name came up.
I just received a message from her that they won one of the contracts they were chasing and expect to win another soon.
So since I agreed to provide consulting on rf/HF communications I am no longer retired.
I'm thinking a new custom D-45 Martin would be nice.

So it is with work in retirement. Every time it's been offered to me, I've had to balance not really wanting to do it with still mattering and making money. I've called it both ways, depending on circumstances and my mood.

I don't know what rf or HF is, but I do know, Darryl, that you are a person who can't sit still. Welcome back to the working world for a bit; the working world will enjoy your expertise.

When I saw the subject line of this post, I thought it was going to be about someone letting their family and friends and maybe us here know they were gay.

Me too. Don't feel all alone.

Congratulations. If I didn’t have writing and music to keep me busy, I’m not sure I wouldn’t be looking. But life is pretty busy.

Ah, someplace warm, I neglected to mention that the gal that I'll be working with lives in Las Vegas. I might have to have some in person meetings there.

Obtaining a custom built guitar is a blessing. I’ll never regret the money spent getting Matt Arcara to build my 000. It is a treat each time I pick it up.

Well, working on your own terms isn’t so bad. You are still retired, maybe semi now. Go for the D-45 but pick it up in a nice, warm place.
