For those of you who work—yay! It’s the weekend. Party time. For those of us who don’t—yay! Another grand day of not having to do that servitude thing.
35 degrees and it will top out at 39 just before it gets dark and the temperature drops again. I shall wear a cardigan today. Red so I can be seen in the snow. Stay employed!

Sunny and pleasant in Fun City this morning. The offspring is away at a sleepover. The spouse is in Florida. The dog is sleeping by the front door. My buddy is coming by this afternoon to plug in and rock out. I have already warned the downstairs neighbors.
Otherwise, I don't have a clue about what to do with myself. Time to get creative.

Today is the anniversary of one of Bill Monroe’s mistresses taking a fire poker to his beloved mandolin. Hell hath no fury and all of that. There is an interview with the guy who repaired it on Mandolin Cafe. There are those who believe Monroe was a skunk and, in truth, it seems he was a bit skunk-like.

Cool, cloudy, dreary, etc, think I'll head up to Jams for some coffee and maybe a sweet treat, then stop at the Urbana farmers market.
West Music jam this afternoon, but don't think I'll go.

Good morning. I just took a walk and got strafed with horizontal beams from the rising sun. It was beautiful and invigorating.
We irrigated overnight so I can't work in the yard. I'll be making some cool-weather soup that involves a lot of dicing of ingredients but it's worth the effort.
Enjoy your day.

Cold, wind, freezing rain and snow coming later in the day. Otherwise all good.
Have to drive to a nearby town for a job tonight. It’ll be dicey. Went there yesterday for setup and on the way a lady in a big SUV spun out into a deep ditch ahead of me. It was impressive. She stayed upright. Luckily she was coming from where I was headed. I gave her a ride home.

Good morning.
Tis DaWife's Birthday so I'm letting her sleep in as long as she likes and the girls are taking her to brunch tomorrow.
Effing S### on the way, crap.
Grabbing coffee and heading down to my shop.

Morning. Just past 6:00 here and the coffee is dripping. The kids are boarding their plane right now, we will pick them up in a five or six hours. We will stop at Costco by the airport then if they are hungry take them for either fish tacos or sushi.

Alert readers might recall my mention of a newly opened eatery north of me that I was pretty enthused about. Well, I visited it this morning and while the food was very good, I could not get out of there soon enough as the place is huge and was filled with parents and their noisy rugrats. Just one immense echo chamber. My ears are still ringing.

HOORAY! HOORAY! HOORAY! IT IS CUTIE SEASON.
I got my first big bag of "Cutie" mandarins of the season at Sam's yesterday, and they are perfecto! There had been some earlier releases, but they were pathetic varieties, small thin skinned and weak flavored. These are the real deal, and they are huge for a small orange. They are so good! They peel themselves and leap into your happy mouth. I am a big fan of Cuties. Big fan!

Just taking a quick break so I filled my coffee and sat down at the PC to check in here and realized I smell like naphtha solvent. Been removing old cello tape from the finish on Charlie Parr's Gibson B-45-12. Don't leave set lists taped to your guitar.

Been removing old cello tape from the finish on Charlie Parr's Gibson B-45-12. Don't leave set lists taped to your guitar. Ha! I was trying to figure out what cello tape might be and why a cello would need special tape. Finally, I realized that you intended it as an abbreviation of cellophane. I may not be fully awake yet. Pro tip: To fasten set lists on your guitar, use tiny dabs of mounting putty, the stuff used for hanging posters on dorm room walls. It leaves no residue, is easily removed, and is reusable. A small package will last the rest of your life.

It works for duct tape residue also.
EDIT: People will tell you that lighter fluid will work, NOT SO. Some lighter fluids use Benzine and that will take the tape residue and the finish off your guitar.

Went Googling. Charlie Parr stuff is pretty cool.
ETA - He has a couple of gigs in Bristol in May. Will be there if I'm able. 🙂

Snow is falling here, with a temp of 32 degrees. There's a new furnace filter in place, my utility bills are paid and I have plenty of food and drink. Plus a booster shot appointment on Monday, so bring it.

Just got down blowing snow. We picked up around 5" over the last two days. Nice blowing conditions. I did the two legs of the block that extend off my corner lot. I saw my comrade in blow taking care of his side of the block. We exchanged waves like two WWI fighter pilots in really slow planes. Tis the season.
Earlier today, I ordered new Blizzaks for the Sorento. Tis the season. I will be putting second-winter Blizzaks on the Scion and Anna's Cruze next week. Tis the season.

After seeing that photo of Sven Hedlund, I had to find out what he sounded like. Now, without further delay, Sven!
The videos show the young Sven and the much older, modern era Sven. The hair has not changed much, which is a bit frightening.
