Such a shame that you don't have a computer, which could explain that question in a minute or less. I did not say we had never investigated it. I just said we were curious about it. Especially since there are differing theories as to how the name came about. It seems that even What Cheerians are not sure how it got the name. Now, Rat Hole, MN is easy to understand. What Cheer less so. JK, my friend.

And I was wrong about Rat Hole. It’s in Wisconsin.

I guess small town doesn’t mean townsfolk can’t appreciate cultural events and entertainment.

The lore I always heard was that What Cheer (WOT_cheer) is onomatopoeic from the sound a cardinal makes.

Should Licking be so close to Hocking in Ohio?

I'm hearing here and elsewhere that the COVID vaccines aren't really working that well I shouldn't jinx myself by mentioning it, but my vaccinated coworker came down with the virus last week. I worked closely with him all day and so far so good. I know the docs here doubt natural resistance born of having the disease. We'll see.

These are yesterday's case numbers: Up there at the top, the national total is 50. That's a new low, since May, 2020. Even if not all cases are recognized/tested, if you multiply by ten it's still better than most of the world, probably even most individual US states. Fully vaxxed is now about 75%, I think most all pfizer, and school kids are now getting shots. The other thing is that masks work--almost everyone just wears one. (and never any mandate) www.theguardian.com/world/2021/nov/17/wearing-masks-single-most-effective-way-to-tackle-covid-study-finds

The medical studies and things I see are saying that natural immunity is far and away better than vaccines. I'm confident (for what that's worth) that you'll be fine. Best of luck to you and Dar.

Correlation does not make causation

Are they all wearing masks? I don't know, but I don't see a lot of people here in Virginia wearing masks. Masks seem to have nothing to do with anything. But we've known that for a long time.

A friend felt bad and got tested and came up positive. She's vaxed. Don't think they had a booster yet. But her symptoms are mild so far. That's what seems to be the Deep-State message, ( ) that the breakthrough cases are relatively milder.
