Alert readers might recall that I have been homebound since Monday owing to car trouble, and I was pretty much resigned to staying home today, ordering Chinese food and watching two modest NFL teams duke it out. Then Marty called and said I was going to Eau Claire, dammit, as they were lending me one of their two cars. I was gobsmacked, still am. Now THERE is a couple to be thankful for! You rock, Marty (and Cheri, whose car I am using), although you should know that if the tables were turned, I might have bought you a Greyhound ticket.

Happy Thanksgiving
When I told Cheri I was going to loan Bill my nice truck she sad NO!. I smoke in your truck and Bill would be miserable, let him take my new Kia, I don't smoke in it. Hell, she won't even let the girls have a can of pop in it.
We will be out the door here shortly as we are having breakfast at Keys Café just around the corner from Bill's place.

Hello, all. I awoke this morning in Lake Charles, LA (city of my birth), on my way to Houston for Thanksgiving dinner with Kathy's brother and other assorted family. From thence we will drive up to Lufkin, TX for a couple of days to visit my son, Jonathan, and his wife.
Among the many things for which I am thankful are the people of The Soundhole. I hope today is a fine day for all of you.

Sun is coming up, the unexpected 5 inches of overnight snow is dressing up this special day. All three sons soon to be on board.
Remember, it's ok to pretend to like the brussel sprouts then stuff them under the seat cushion. Learned that from my kids. My favorite holiday as well.
Cheers all.

The girls try to disguise those vile things with lots of cheese sauce, I haven't fallen for that one yet. Doesn't work on cauliflower or broccoli either.

Breakfast this morning is one of my stash of local Honeycrisp apples. I like to quarter them and then slice the quarters. It allows you to really savor each and every slice for its tart/sweetness, juiciness and crispness. Wonderful stuff.

Bill, KEYS CAFE, that place around the corner that has breakfasts so large they are falling off the plate!!! Where even Steve Morris could not finish his meal! No, I have to stay really minimalist today, or I won't be able to enjoy the afternoon feast, as I just can't eat that much anymore. The apple will get me to the Eau Claire hors d'oeuvres. Tons of cheeses, dips, crackers, maybe even some herring for the daring.

I'm with Evan and kbcolorado. This is my favorite holiday. I'm thankful that I'm still here, thankful for family and friends and for much else.
Because of one daughter's recent case of Covid we'll be eating in the backyard. She and her boyfriend will be at one table and the rest of us will be a ways away at another. That'll be closer to normal than last year's Thanksgiving. We'll all talk to the two old Canadian friends who planned to be here but had to cancel because of an injury.
I hope it's a fine day for everyone here.
