As a casual college football fan that watches only interesting matchups between top teams, I see a pretty good argument for today's top conference championships being better games than on any single day of the bowl season ... particularly since New Year's Day has been eviscerated by the accountants. I like GA, OSU and Iowa today.
Long range forecast shows fall vacation continuing until a bit of snow next Friday.
Cheers

Off to the vet this morning, in a rental car. The vet is my younger cousin, who I trust implicitly and whose practice is in Queens County. We live in Kings County.
Later, proofing a book about a tintype of Butch Cassidy and his gang. Who thought life in one's sixties would be this exciting?

Thick fog this morning. Alexa Robot says it will be sunny so we have hope. Breakfast awaits.

Off to New London MN to provide four hours of elevator music for a fundraising event at “The Little Theater”.
Weather looks OK so it should be fun.

A cute thread in the lovelorn column in the Boston Globe today. A 20 something wrote in asking how to deal with her boyfriend changing apartments from one on the red line to one on the blue line. The Globe took up 8 inches of column space printing reader advice. Most pertinent being 'get over it.'

Good morning. Like KB, we're apparently going to see our unusually warm weather go away next week.
Today we'll go admire the house my older daughter has purchased in Tempe. I've never been very interested in houses but buying her first house is a big deal to her so I'll need to be impressed.
All's well here, putting aside the Covid numbers. Enjoy your day.

Winter storm is on its way later today. Snowfall from 3-12" depending on when, where, and what. So far, it looks like we might be in the 3-6" band, but much depends. Tonight's show will be fine, but tomorrow, if the winds kick up into the mid-40s like they might, will be interesting.
Chomper is ready and raring!

I've never been very interested in houses but buying her first house is a big deal to her so I'll need to be impressed. All's well here, putting aside the Covid numbers. Enjoy your day. When I bought my first house, it was a small bungalow that had been owned by the same couple for 44 years. it needed a lot of work. A lot. But it was our first house, and we were excited (and scared) to be property owners. My dad drove up from Kansas to see it, and my father-in-law stopped by. My dad marveled at the house, reminiscing about the house he grew up in and pointing out neat little features like the telephone nook and the breakfast area. He was excited for us. My father-in-law looked around, paused, and said, "I can see why you got it so cheap." Be my dad, not my father-in-law.

A beef roast in the crock pot. I've had a great deal of difficulty finding buttercup squash this fall, finally found some on Wednesday, so I'll have baked squash for dinner tonight with the roast.
Gave my grandson a guitar on Thanksgiving, hope I can keep him interested, he has taken piano and fiddle lessons so he knows something about music basics.

"Be my dad, not my father-in-law." I'll try but any excitement will be feigned. I'll genuinely enjoy the pleasure she takes from it.

Got the Christmas tree up and lights put on it yesterday. Decorations are still in boxes, but at least the boxes have been retrieved from their hiding place. Wreath is on the front gate. String of lights were already put up on the front fence. My church is having it's women's Christmas brunch this morning. Most of us will be watching on line. There are a few who don't do virtual and will actually be there. I'll be having a mushroom omelet and toast, but before the event starts, as I don't want crumbs and cheese on my keyboard. Later today is what passes for our HOA's holiday party this year, a happy hour and board games on the clubhouse patio. BYOB. "Normally," we would have a nice indoor party with catered dinner. I started getting into the mood with Christmas songs yesterday. First the keyboard. Then some singing and guitar strumming.

Good quote. "Rebellion is as much of a cage as obedience. They both mean living in reaction to someone else's way instead of forging your own." Glennon Doyle.

Hawaii trip winding down. We leave for home on Monday, and I’m ready. We have had great weather until yesterday, whe a pretty solid storm blew in. Wind was howling, and lots of rain. This morning the wind has backed off, but it’s pretty overcast. We are heading out soon to go to Whalers village, and do some window shopping. Nita wanted to go to a handmade craft fair but it was called off due to the weather. Looking forward to my own bed Monday night.

I think it was blizzard warnings including 100 MPH winds.

My, the sky just darkened up. Looks like some solid rain is heading our way. Don't know if I will have time to take the dogs to the park, put up Christmas lights, police the back yard dog poo, trim the cherry and apple trees, get the branches in the mulch bin and mow the lawn.
Perhaps the best course is to stay inside, fix some lunch, play some more guitar, and see how the weather develops.

The volcanoes on the big island top out around 14k feet. They occasionally get weather.
