It is 62 out and the wind is blowing like it wants to drive us back into the sea. It is dark out there so I can’t see what the wind has done yet but it was awful all night. It is supposed to do a drop to 25 degrees later. Fun times, huh? Enjoy.

Our forecast for today is a high of 64° with "gusts." I hope that doesn't mean my manager at the office is going to blather at me all day.
When people say things to me like, "happy Thursday!" or "happy Friday!" or "happy Monday," it triggers the fight or flight reflex in me. I either want to shove them or run away. What the hell is so happy about Monday for a working man, except for the fact that you woke up alive to see another day of indentured servitude?
Wishing all a safe and peaceful day.

35km bike ride this a.m., forecast says rain and then maybe some snow on saturday (enough to stick?).
Besides the unusual wx/storms there, the philippines is now getting hit with a cat 5 hurricane--also really odd for december.

In Oxfordshire waiting for my post-travel test results to come in. I’m with Claire, so waiting is easy. If we get the results soon, we’ll go hiking today, the go to Oxford tomorrow.
We’ll hit London on Saturday, and then take the train over to Salisbury and Bath. We’ll come back to Oxfordshire on Sunday, and then head up to Leicestershire for Claire’s graduation on Monday.
I fly back next Tuesday. 🇬🇧

Good Morning Good People
The great midwest windstorm is bearing down upon us. Like other correspondents have reported, Temperatures in the 60s yesterday will fall to the 20s tonight.
I might venture forth to Lake Michigan to watch waves crashing in, or might spend the day in the workshop. Christmas present to myself is mobile bases for stationary power tools. I'm getting too old to drag the table saw and bandsaw around.

Good morning. Work up your appetite for fried chicken by stopping by here first for a session of pick up sticks in the yard. Road and Bridge was out last night removing a couple trees blocking the local road. High winds were unsettling for human, canine and feline alike yesterday.
Cheers

Morning. Today is Christmas bonus day at the shop. Come on by for $100 bills and fried chicken. Did that last year. The $100 bills were a funny color and the fried chicken looked a whole lot like squirrel.

Good morning, or at least better than expected.
The rain stopped before the temps plummeted and the high winds started. Now it's just cold, windy and snowing. I was afraid we would wake up to a world encased in ice. It's brutal out but bearable.

Good morning. The backyard thermometer reads 32 degrees. I should have harvested more basil yesterday as it will now be croaking. My intrepid wife just went for a walk. If I take one it will be this afternoon.
Paul S, where in Leicestershire has Claire been? My youngest spend a semester at the U of Leicester. I don't know that she learned anything in class but the experience was very broadening.
Have a good day, one and all.

The classical station just played "Winter" from Vivaldi's "Four Seasons," a perfect backdrop to what I am seeing out my window.

It’s still dark out. Tv news reports it’s a balmy 39 degrees out there, heading for a high of 43. Not exactly shorts and flip flop weather. The dog has burrowed under her covers and seems perfectly content. I need more coffee.

I may have actually been attempting to make the opposite point.

The cold rolled in overnight with the wind (a good bit less wind than the midsection got, but windy, nevertheless), currently 5F with an expected high of 8F. But, the cold will be short-lived. By Sunday, highs are expected to be back up into the pleasant low 20's.
Messiah concert was last night and now I'm all done with stuff until mid-Jan or so. Ahh...
