That the ID requirements are a solution in search of a problem that doesn't exist, and are intended to make voting a little more difficult for certain populations. Proper ID is required to register to vote in the first place. Requiring specific IDs to be produced later in the process while rejecting others is annoying and redundant. Actually, there is a problem that does exist, that of voter confidence. A Rasmussen survey found that 80 of Americans support a voter ID requirement. If establishing one solves that problem it is a huge step toward calming things. The only reason there is a problem with voter confidence is the near constant repetition by far right voices of unsubstantiated claims of significant voter fraud. When charged with proving it, no credible proof is forthcoming, as ruled by multiple courts, including many with Trump-appointed judges. To say these cases were dismissed without hearings based on technicalities is inaccurate. The "technicality" was there was not any evidence, only claims. You don't get to waste the court's time if you can't meet a minimum threshold.
