I am on vacation for a couple of days and have been sleeping in until 8:30 each morning. So, in your best socialist spirit, feel free to share the responsibility of starting the daily. Others do. 😀

All right! 10 hours of sleep in my own bed. Feeling human. Coffee and snow shoveling await.

Good morning
Steve is home, good.
Mike started the daily. You know that's LJ's job?
DaWife is on vacation so I got to sleep in late.

Glad you finally made it home, Steve.
It'll be cloudy and chilly with showers later. The whole week will be like that. It's good for fire suppression and the water supply but that won't keep me from grumbling.
We have a Zoom trivia game tonight. The younger teammates we depend on for answers about the last 30 years can't play so we'll get drubbed. It'll still be fun.
Enjoy your day.

Good Morning Good People
Cloudy and chilly. Wet snow yesterday mostly melted by early afternoon, leaving lots of disappointed kids who wanted to go sledding. The snow didn't melt completely, leaving icy sidewalks imperiling dog-walkers.
Headed down to the workshop shortly. The workshop is right below Dawn's home office. Gonna run the planer and make lots of dust whilst Dawn is out of the house visiting clients.
Just paid my annual dues to the American Institute of Professional Geologists. Reduced dues since I retired. They used to designate such members as "Retired", now it is "Emeritus" status. I'm feeling rather professorial this morning
Have a fine Tuesday one and all.

Sitting with a cup of coffee watching it snow. Roads may be getting icy. It's beautiful as long as I'm inside, nice and warm.
Music practice is scheduled for this afternoon....but, I wonder....

Snow snow and more snow. We are up to two to three inches on the roads around here. This has caused accidents and cars in ditches all over the place, probably because if it’s sketchy at all one needs to go fast to get in the ditch sooner. :/

good morning. Another glorious winter day here in Florida. Got my daily bike ride in and now I'm undecided what to do today. Maybe take the Kayak out on the lake for the first time or perhaps make some candles, start a new book, play guitar.............First world retirement problems........... Personally I would have asked them not to put out the second notice..............

I looked at the leftovers available this morning and made a breakfast burrito with eggs, cheese, ham and hash browns on a flour tortilla. Life is brighter now.

Good morning. A great Christmas continues to deliver with the stunningly honest announcements from Biden and the CDC about COVID yesterday.
Biden stated that the Federal government is ultimately powerless to fight COVID and has apparently surrendered to local control. Not real clear yet how that will impact his vaccination mandates, but I'm guessing that renders the lawsuits against them completely moot and stops the regulatory machinery in it's tracks.
And the CDC- under tremendous pressure- cut the recommended isolation time for a positive COVID test down to 5 days from 10. That should make it much easier for sports to get on track and greatly reduces the chance that Michigan's whupping of Georgia Friday will be mucked with unnecessarily. And of course, airlines can actually start keeping up with the crews necessary to fly the planes (sorry it's a little late for you, Steve, but it is what it is).
And the biggest news is that with Omicron, COVID seems to have entered it's endemic phase- spreads like wildfire, rendering vaccines useless, but is delightfully non-fatal exhibiting mostly as severe as a common cold. 2021 is shaping up to be the Spanish Flu's 1918 when it eventually faded into obscurity afterward.
Definitely worthy of a New Year's Eve toast!

Here comes more snow, to be followed by subzero readings -- oh well, we had a nice long and warm fall. Elderdottir and I stopped at Morelli's Market last night after our Thai feast, and of all places to find such a thing, she bought these items (minus the syrup): She made them for our family friends this morning, they were a huge hit, and so we're gonna buy some more today so she can take them back to NC to give to Yungerdottir and her family.

I would like to learn how to make Swedish pancakes - time to get in touch with my Swedish ancestry (I am 25% Swedish, after all - the Oberg surname is on my mother's side).

Power is out. Can cannibalism be far behind? We have almost 1/8th inch of snow on the ground, too. Things are looking grim. I am going back to sleep.

I just spoke to LJ. He and Barb had to eat one sled dog and are considering burning a banjo to keep warm. Please keep these good people in your thoughts and prayers.

I just spoke to LJ. He and Barb had to eat one sled dog and are considering burning a banjo to keep warm. Please keep these good people in your thoughts and prayers. I was ready to set fire to the banjo and the power came back on! I set fire to the banjo anyway. What the hell. One less banjo in the world is a good thing.
