Ok, I'll admit it, I keep track of everything. Given that, I find my cycling history of 2021 interesting. I racked up the following mileage: Honda 118 miles Sportster 542 miles Bicycle. 770 miles

I’m taking my ebike to the desert in a couple of weeks, and getting back to Vespa.

I’m taking my ebike to the desert in a couple of weeks, and getting back to Vespa. Mike What kind of e bike do you have? I've been looking at e bikes, but I want to hold off getting one for a couple years. I’ve got a giant fast road. www.giant-bicycles.com/us/fastroad-eplus-ex-proI bought after I retired, in the fall of 2016. Or maybe it was 17. Not sure. Anyway, I like it a lot, but there are things that could be better. Pros, I can go fast. I can cruise at 21-22 mph on the flats, with the assist set to medium. Only use the high assist mode for really steep hills. The assist will assist up to 28mph. Lots of ebike s cut the assist at 20 mph. The battery is 500 watt hours? Large meaning more range, I weigh about 240, usually get about a 45-50 mile range before running out of juice. That equals about three rides for me. I can keep up with and drop much fitter riders. This seems to piss off the much fitter riders. I have to pedal to get the assist, there is no throttle, so I’m getting exercise. Cons: It’s a heavy bike, a pain to lift and transport. The stiff alum frame lets you know when you hit a big pothole. The flat handlebar. What was I thinking? Numb hands and drop bars are more comfortable. Took me way too long to spend the money required to get a Brooks saddle. Should have done that long ago. If you run out of battery on a ride, the motor creates extra drag and you are now pedaling a 45 lb bike that feels like the brakes are on. Ver all though, I really like it. At some point it will age out, and I plan on looking hard at a much lighter and more expensive carbon fiber road e bike. Specialized has some really nice ones. Mike
