I have no idea why I am up. It could be because I am not asleep. It’s awfully dark out there. Time for a big bowl of blueberries. Enjoy the day. It the only one we have.

I'll be off for some routine medical business this morning. I've never had as many doctors as I have since turning 50. It's a good thing they don't expect Christmas gratuities.
Take me home.

good morning. Another chilly morning in Florida. Our garage door opener crapped out last night so today's big event is the repair man's visit this afternoon. Have a great day folks
I chose the road less traveled, now where the hell am I?
Cloudy but fairly warm in the 20's. Good sized snow storm predicted tonight followed by dropping temps. Omicron ramping up here. Hopefully a lot of mild cases as I think damn near everyone in our county has either had it or been vaccinated.
“To be Irish is to know that in the end the world will break your heart.”
Cloudy with temps hovering around freezing. Some welcome meltage on streets and sidewalks yesterday.
I was well treated at the dermatologist yesterday. I had a small fibrous growth excised from the first knuckle of my left ring finger. The PA sized it up and asked whether I used tools and worked with my hands. I told her I am a woodworker and play guitar. It turns out she is learning clawhammer banjo, so I was sliced up by a kindred spirit. After a couple of days with a bandaged knuckle I can resume playing guitar.
I was planning on spending the day in the workshop, but much of it will be taken up dealing with my daughter's car. Alloy rims and road salt don't get along, and the original rims are deteriorated such that the tire bead won't seal well and the tires are constantly losing air. Seeking some used but not abused rims. New custom rims on a 2009 Nissan Murano would be a lipstick on a pig situation.
Hoping Marty's landlord reappears and does the right thing so Marty can get back to his shop.
I am working but but still depressed over the house situation. The basement is mostly dry because we are not using the kitchen or laundry sinks, bath is fine. We are still doing dishes by hand in the bath and will go to a laundromat Saturday.
I stopped typing this post and called my landlord. When it went right to voicemail I hung up and called again, he answered. Why is it that I think he answered his phone by mistake? Now he has been informed and has to deal with it.
Tearing up a part of the basement floor hopefully will not shut down my shop as it is on the opposite side of the house.
Now to get some work done.
I will be posting on our For Sale board later today. Got a few things I need to move.
Damn ! Sue has COVID. She doesn't feel too bad. But we're supposed to fly off to Texas on Sunday for a week of hiking with some friends. Looks like she's out. I've been isolating from her since she came down with her first symptoms. I feel fine, and I usually fair worse with respiratory bugs. Of course I'll get tested, but I might wait a day or two to see where I sit. I may go on the trip without her (her suggestion). But the other 6 people have to concur.
Everything is up in the air.

Marty, I am not a landlord tenant attorney, but understand that many states require residential rentals to be "habitable." I suspect that includes normal plumbing operation.
Minnesota law requires landlords to keep units in reasonable repair. This requirement cannot be waived.(83) However, the landlord and the tenant can agree the tenant will do certain specific repairs or maintenance if:
This agreement is in writing and conspicuous (easy to notice); and The tenant receives something adequate in return (for example, a rent reduction or payment from the landlord for the work).(84)
If the tenant has trouble getting the landlord to make necessary repairs in the unit, the tenant may use one or more of the following remedies:
File a complaint with the local housing, health, energy or fire inspector —if there is one—and ask that the unit be inspected. If there is no city inspector for the community, write the landlord and request repairs within 14 days. If management fails to make such repairs, the tenant may file a rent escrow action. Place the full rent in escrow with the court, and ask the court to order the landlord to make repairs. Sue the landlord in district court under the Tenant’s Remedies Act. Sue in conciliation court or district court for rent abatement (this is the return of part of the rent, or, in extreme cases, all of the rent). Use the landlord’s failure to make necessary repairs as a defense to either the landlord’s Eviction Action based on nonpayment of rent or the landlord’s lawsuit for unpaid rent."
It goes into further specifics about the remedies.

I will give the guy a chance to rectify the situation first even though I have repeatedly left voicemails and texts.
Judges prefer hard copies of signed letters. I recommend that you send him a signed letter and keep a copy. Better yet, send it by a method that allows you to track or otherwise verify delivery.
It makes everyone involved, including your landlord, take you more seriously.

The latest installment; we had a conf call with the 4 couples. 2 couples are backing out of the trip to Big Bend. 2 couples will wait till tomorrow afternoon to decide. We have until 4:00 Friday to cancel without penalty. I will take a test @ noon. If I'm negative, we'll go. We'll rent a separate car so there's no cross exposure there. Sue and I will take our chances. The other remaining couple is OK with this and eager to go. Sue is feeling pretty good. She did a 4 mile walk yesterday. Her symptoms are very mild. Me, I'm sleeping at the other end of the house and I have no symptoms. We both wear masks and keep good distance. By Sunday, I'll take my chances with her.

My life is fairly dull right now. Based on Marty and Marshall's (and Kris' in another thread) situations, I'd like to keep it that way.
Went to choir rehearsal last night just long enough to drop off my music and folder. Don't know when I'll feel safe singing in person again, but hope that it's not too long. Mr. H came with me and from the church we swung by the home improvement store to buy some light switches and electrical outlets. Had to ask 3 times for assistance. Stood around for around a half hour and then they were out of 2 of the 3 items that we wanted. At least we got the type of light switch that we really needed, as one of ours failed.
Today I took Mr. H to the pharmacy to get his TDAP booster. Then we bought gas. I played a little keyboard. Getting Chinese takeout tonight. Will probably have a bottle of wine and pretend that we're dining out.
The big Soundholians Marshall/Marty - the issues Covid/housing. Egads!
I think the Marty' housing is pretty horrible ugly..... Mrs H. little new variant covid is milder.
At least I hope you're better.....
We look at the outside clues that people show and make up stories. The stories are just stories. Interconnected. Making up stories is what human beings do. But, if we are wise, we can slow down, remember stories and learn.
