Yes it is
The server at the Best Western breakfast room asked, “Where y’all from? I said Chicago. She said, “What’re y’all doin’ in dusty Odessa?”

Had a very rainy, cold overnight here in New York. The clouds are breaking up, the smiles may not be returning to the faces, but here comes the sun.
And for all you history buffs, a few minutes of tribute to the Reverend Martin Luther King. Washington DC, August 28, 1963.

Pictures are from Talons Restaurant, looking up at Larkspur Bowl and about halfway up Larkspur bowl looking down at the restaurant. Talons Restaurant is at the bottom, finish line, for the Birds of Prey downhill racecourse. Back home from a week of skiing at Beaver Creek, Co. we had beautiful weather for the drive out and sunshine for the first 4 days of skiing. On last Friday, our last ski day, we had about 4-6 inches of fresh powder. I took it pretty easy skiing mostly blue runs (intermediate) but did get into a few black. I averaged about 15,000 vertical feet a day, which gave me around d75,000 for the week, or about 85-90 miles of horizontal skiing. we left Avon, where our condo was, at 6:00 am Saturday morning for the drive home. With the snow Friday and Friday night the chain laws were in effect on both Vail pass and on both sides of the Eisenhower tunnel. The truck was in 4 wheel drive all the way to Denver. From Denver to Des Moines the roads were good, but Des Moines had 12 inches of snow on Friday and the highway was terrible, rough ice and cars and semis in the ditch everywhere. We witnessed a 20-30 car pileup in Des Moines. Once we were east of Des Moines about 20 miles the roads went back to being pretty good and we pushed on home. The trip home was 15 1/2 hours, but we had 6 drivers, 3 in each vehicle so it wasn't too bad although it was tiring.

Good morning. What are ya'll doing in a dusty guitar forum?
I'll be leaving for an overnight outing in a while. I'll take the camera but my main motivation is to go spend some time in an appealing place. It also won't hurt to have a change of scene.
Enjoy your day. Keep on the sunny side if the weather service permits.

Some great new photos of grandkids playing in an abundance of NC snow appeared this morning on my electronic frame, one of my favorite possessions, and one of the most thoughtful Christmas gifts ever. Thanks, Dottirs!

Enjoying my first day off since New Years. I walked the dog in the woods and I'm soon going to lunch with a friend.
I can only flatpick right now because my fingertips are all cracked and painful.

4 days, 4 rabbits!
This is a record breaking streak!
I awoke this morning knowing a record was possible. What if?, Could it be?
I slipped on some snow slippers and went out onto the deck, and there, there they were, two ears poking out of a bundle of tell tale bunny fur!
4 days, 4 rabbits!

I think I'm stopping working..... I'm not sure. I've stopped some medical. I have side-effects - Zoloft. I only have one relaxing drug. It doesn't get me high or a wreck.
Another California day probably 55° no rain.....
Enjoy your day wherever it is.....

Spent the morning clearing the drive from the overnight 6 inches of snow covered by a good half inch of ice. I'd uncovered the vehicles and cleared the path from the front door to the doors of the vehicles, got them both started and warming, and then cleared the shell of ice from them.
At that point, the wife came to the door and hollered that she'd contacted one of the local boys on Facebook and he was going to bring his tractor by to clear the rest of the drive for $60. No sooner than she had closed the door and here comes a front end loader down the street. Stopped in front and then proceeded to make short work of the rest of the drive.
Went out to the street and this young farm boy opens the door and steps out. I said how much do I owe you? He said, nothing, your wife sounded worried about you.
Made my day.

Fantastic. This is in Winchester, home of The Fret Shop and Shenandoah Music?

Well, Strasburg about 17 miles south in Shenandoah county. But close enough.

I don't have a WSJ account so I couldn't read the article, but I can guess what it's about. Anymore if you're going to ski a week or more it's cheapest to buy a season pass. Weekend travel from Denver on I70 on a Saturday morning is insane. Traffic just west of Golden crawling west with 50-60 miles to go. Lift lines on busy weekends! About the only negative we encountered this trip was snow conditions, Beaver Creek is noted for it grooming, but this year was different. The Arrowhead section of BC is one of my favorite places to ski, since I've been skiing there, probably 18 years, this was the first year the major runs were ungroomed. The locals told us it was mostly a COVID problem. BC has 16 groomers, and when we arrived there they only had staff to operate 6 of the 16 groomers. In a couple weeks I'll be going back to BC and Breck, it'll be interesting to see if things are improving.
