It was 44 yesterday but the Arctic blast is coming back today. Lake effect snow (6-10 inches) forecast for today just a few miles east of us and fingers are crossed the wind doesn’t shift. Have a hearty breakfast and a good day.

Went to Target yesterday and they had no blueberries, so I bought underwear. Then I went to Trader Joe's, where they had plenty of (Peruvian) blueberries, but no underwear on the shelves. So I bought more salami and provolone.
Cold here, 1 below at present, clear skies, none of the snow and wind that hit Tandbergia overnight.
Cold! Today will be an inside day, except for going to the mailbox to pick up my new, highly accurate hydrometer from Amazon, once the mail man delivers it.
Yesterday afternoon I got a call from the post office telling me that they had a package for me but they found it too late to make the promised delivery date (yesterday). I told them not to worry, just send it out tomorrow, it's nothing important. (Marty and my guitars might think it is important)
Good morning. My overnight outing was exhilarating. The sight and sound of a stream does my soul good. All the walking helped to wear off holiday cookies.
This afternoon I'll have coffee in the backyard with a friend.
Been really fighting the winter blahs lately. Drinking a margarita for lunch at a swim up bar somewhere is sounding pretty good.
When you visited Costa Rica, did you ever make it to Nosara? I just edited a travel piece about it, and it sounds amazing.
That does look pretty great. No, we were on the Pacific side, but way down south on the Osa Peninsula on the Matapalo Coast. Pretty remote. Ridiculous wildlife viewing and beach stuff. You could walk down the hill to the little beach and have it to yourself and swim while watching trees full of macaws and monkeys. One day we chartered a boat out of Puerto Jiminez and released over twenty 100lb plus sailfish in 4 hours. Pretty special slice of the world down there.

I've been reading Rick Waugh's fantasy book (no, not THAT kind of fantasy Bill) "The Eternal Muse, volume 1, Deception". I am really enjoying it - thanks Rick! I highly recommend it if you are into that genre'.
Took the recycling to the curb and thought "kinda cold out here". Well DUH! it's Zero degrees out. Cats refuse to go out so they'll just have use the box which is clean because they prefer to go out. I did a minor shop run yesterday so we are good for the time being.
Weather conditions to make old men grouchy. Morning temps declining to about 20 degrees during the day and single digits by tomorrow night. All of the slush in the streets will freeze to ankle-twisting ridges (twisting one's ankles or knees on the way down before fracturing one's tailbone).
Successful trip to the auto salvage yard yesterday. They had five dead Nissan Muranos on the lot, mostly picked clean of tires and rims, but managed to find the right size rim on the last one. Fortunately the remains of the vehicle were on stands and the wheel was held on with one loose lug nut. About a two-week wait at Discount Tire to get new tires put on - I informed our daughter that a chunk of her tax refund will be going to four new tires. The existing tires aren't shot, but close enough.
Today's project is reassembling boxes to create a box fort in the basement. The cardboard dumpster at a local appliance shop is a constant source of large boxes. This has been a regular winter project for a number of years, with our eldest granddaughter as the chief designer. I cut windows and skylights where she tells me to. This year it's going to be some sort of castle, complete with a drawbridge. If she wants me to dig a moat in the basement floor I will have to draw the line.

good morning. Got into the 30's last night but it's warming up to be a nice day here in Florida. Claire and I are going to the RV show in Tampa this afternoon to check out a camper we're interested in. We'll see if we end up in Nomadland.............
I chose the road less traveled, now where the hell am I?

It’s 6°F above zero here but not to worry, the wind chill “feels like” is -14°.

I just woke up to have some great music.....chopin and more piano
I'm dealing with some language problems. Some of my disorder/aphasia..... another person's language - "wetbrain"
I need to do some food and some liquid
Adios
Enjoy your day.....ditto
We look at the outside clues that people show and make up stories. The stories are just stories. Interconnected. Making up stories is what human beings do. But, if we are wise, we can slow down, remember stories and learn.
There was a cold wind howling last night. Nasty. Really glad I was inside and not stranded out on a frozen lake somewhere in my underwear. That was not a good day. Darn Canadian beer.

Headline and lede paragraph from a story in today's St. Cloud Times:
Kimball man charged with threatening employee with gun in parking lot
A Kimball man faces a felony charge for allegedly threatening to rob a man with a gun when he tried to assist him, according to a criminal complaint filed in Stearns County court.
Who, I wonder, was doing what to whom? To be fair, the rest of the story clears up the relationships and actions.

I thought of Hobson when my wife told me about our church choir. After Christmas Eve it was decided that choir would not resume until mid-January because of the local virus numbers. The start was postponed again until February 1st. Today the music director advised everyone that a half dozen choir members have Covid and that there will be no more joyful noises made until further notice.

Today's top St. Cloud Times story:
CentraCare Health's intensive care unit and critical care beds are still above maximum capacity, and 25% of all CentraCare patients have tested positive for COVID-19 regardless if they came in for COVID-related symptoms or not, said Dr. George Morris Tuesday, CentraCare's incident commander for COVID-19 response.
The update comes a week after city officials around the St. Cloud area declined CentraCare's request to implement a temporary mask mandate to slow the spread of COVID-19 and preserve hospital staffing levels.
CentraCare is the largest medical complex in central Minnesota, with the largest hospital in the area. If C. has another seizure, we're SOL for emergency care.
