Since when is Tuesday “hump day”? Expecting a very short week, maybe?
It should hit 35 today. Maybe we will melt some of this snow.

Our director offered a great tip during band practice last night. If the rest of the band has finished and you still have notes left, don't play them.

Good morning
18F going to maybe 40F today February thaw, happens almost every winter, it will be quite cold by the weekend.
Booster shot yesterday, tired feeling with a dull headache today but that is all. I'll try to get some work done.
A conversation on the internet last night about a 1966 Guild F30 reminded me I have a 1969 F30 in the archive closet. A true basket case, and I do mean pieces in a basket. It's pretty much all there but putting it back together would be a challenge. I have customer guitars to finish first.
39 Days until Spring.

Looking like a humpless week. When you're retired and living in a pandemic world, there's not a lot to distinguish one day from another. I do have a Zoom social chat this afternoon. And I should be getting some scholarship essays to review sometime soon. And I'm keeping up on guitar and keyboard playing. And I'm attempting to brush up on my Spanish. The best way to do that so far has been to read some noticias (news) with a dictionary open for words I don't know and to watch a slow-moving novela (soap opera) with captions on.

A lot of my Spanish came back when I was volunteering at a food bank and dealing with a number of unilingual Spanish speakers. I was surprised by how much of it was still there. The pandemic put an end to that, alas.

Breckinridge ski report We were on the lift at 8:35 this morning, skied peaks 9, 8, 7 and 6. We quit at 1:00 PM (we're old) with 22,000 vertical feet, skiing 23 miles with a top speed of 49 mph. It was windy up top, 35-40 mph wind but temperatures in the low 30s made for some great skiing.

What does if take you to get up to 45 mph, Paleo? How are you timing yourself? I used to get up a pretty good head of steam at Sunapee going left off the lift over a little drop off taking air for about 30 yards then down and across to a long trail that sat below the crossover. It was fun and kept my attention.

FYI, after Terry mentioned the 41-year-old French skier who medaled in the downhill, I watched some videos of him, including this 2013 run in Wengen, Switzerland, where he topped 100 miles per hour! (And didn't win!)

It was fun and kept my attention. We use an AP called ski trax, it is a GPS AP that tracks and records your position and speed, etc. As far as getting to 45 mph, there are a lot of places st Breck were it is hard to hold your speed down to 45 mph. Steep, smooth groomed runs. I'm sure on peak 6 where we spent a lot of time today, if I just pointed the skis down hill and let them run I'd be well over 70 mph. Several years ago I did hit 72 mph, perfect conditions, and the right skis.
