I am always amazed at how really accomplished players make difficult pieces look effortless.

I have one lute customer Paul, former Podium manager. He has had me work on all of his 4 lutes. Baroque, Arch, Theorbo and one other I can't remember the name of.
Lutes are not very fun to work on as the design is not meant to be repaired without taking things apart. And they do not come apart easily. Perforated wood or parchment rosettes make working through the sound hole near impossible. These rosettes are removable but only buy a practiced hand, not mine. And even then if it's a wedding cake rosette it must be left inside while the work is done.
They are also not meant to be in a MN winter.
All that said they are very cool instruments to play and listen to.
