-- Except for the 45-mile runway required.
-- Note that there are no pilots, and only white passengers.
-- I love that the tail observation disc rotates, cuz God forbid you just walk around the 360 degrees.
-- Funny they don't show exactly how those electrically powered 747 supply ships approach and attach on a Lakehurst-like spire. Oh, the humanity!

How many Legos to make one? You know, that thing makes the Pregnant Guppy look like an F-104.

I love, also, that the radical future of aviation holds in store a mammoth biplane, with non-swept wings and fixed landing gear.

A flying nuclear reactor. What could possibly go wrong? It was tried before. Turns out that lead is not an ideal metal for aircraft applications. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convair_NB-36H

It's kind of like an early set-up scene in a blockbuster disaster movie. Perhaps my mind drifts to morbid thoughts a bit too easily.

A flying nuclear reactor. What could possibly go wrong? It was tried before. Turns out that lead is not an ideal metal for aircraft applications. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convair_NB-36HThat is crazy. Per Wikipedia, "The NB-36H completed 47 test flights and 215 hours of flight time (during 89 of which the reactor was operated) between September 17, 1955, and March 1957[13] over New Mexico and Texas. The test flights revealed, that with the shielding used, the crew would not be endangered by radiation from the reactor, including with low-altitude flights, but that there was a risk of radioactive contamination in the event of an accident." I don't think that the danger of radioactive contamination was as well known back then. Thank goodness the program was scrapped.

I had a client whose hobby was flying an ultralight plane. Actually, his estate was my client, as that's how he died.

Long story, but I found myself in the home of a person who is into building and flying model planes. They all looked like a plane to me, but this one made me go "Hmmm". I asked if that was modeled after a real plane. He said yes, gave me a story that I can't remember, and says the model flies funny enough he'd can't imagine going up in a real one. Any of you plane enthusiasts know what this thing is? I wonder if anyone has seen one like this before.
