good morning. Another typical Florida summer day awaits. Started up my morning bike rides again today. I took a few weeks off to rehab my aching legs which I had pushed too far. Apparently moderation is the key. Lesson learned. Have good ones folks.

Up and awake. Ford is dead. Battery is leaking fluid from the top. Sheesh. Off to the dealer for advice. I THINK it's a battery change, but we got some weird faults when we tried to start it yesterday. When we came back a few hours later, it was dead dead. A battery may be just fixing a symptom, which would be a quintessentially American approach...

It's music practice this afternoon and then dinner tonight in Cedar Rapids with some friends who traveled to Iowa for the great crawfish boil. We'll have Iowa, California, Missouri, Illinois and Louisiana represented.

Good morning. That's a cool photo, Ken.
It'll be a standard day here. There's a fairly long to-do list but it should be manageable.
There's been a DNA discovery in my wife's extended family. A woman who'd given a child up for adoption was contacted by the child, who had found her through Ancestry. They'd both been looking for each other and were delighted.
All's well. Enjoy your day.

My dumpster is full and was supposed to be picked up Saturday but is still in my driveway. I'm beginning to wonder if there's a charge for putting it in my driveway and an additional charge for picking it up.😄 Now, that would be a business plan.
(Actually, they are picking it up today.)

Morning all. 74F-83F mostly cloudy. Terrible nights sleep. Early nap today. Who the hell are those people and what are they doing in my backyard?

Denver crew arrives today for a week. Got the pontoon in by myself with a headwind at the access. Was not pretty but got it done. Glad no trailer backing pros were watching.
Now for more prep work for the visit which includes a dog that eats anything you leave lying about. When we were in Denver a month ago I walked him every day and there was huge concern when he did not poop for several days. Just after we left he barfed up a couple of socks.
Marty I am so sorry things are still smoldering. Thinking of you.

G'Day.
Twins thumped Cleveland 11-1 last night and now have a three-game cushion in the Central. Pretty good for a team that gathers a completely new pitching staff from the league dumpster each and every year.

Well, the "surprise" Jan. 6 hearing will start in less than an hour, and word is that giving testimony live will be Cassidy Hutchinson, the young Mark Meadows aide who has already offered up tons of info in recorded depositions.
Could be an interesting day.

The hospital I work a bit for in the summer got a new van, bus, or whatever you call this thing. So much nicer than the old vans we've been using for years, and much more comfortable for the people riding in it. I took nursing home residents on a ride yesterday. They wanted to go to the Ozone in Urbana. Any old-time Idiotjammers remember that place?

I suspect the various DNA/ancestry services have connected a bunch of people. I found my biological mother through 23AndMe.

"I suspect the various DNA/ancestry services have connected a bunch of people. I found my biological mother through 23AndMe."
I've heard of quite a few such discoveries. I have a somewhat mixed reaction to these events. People's old secrets are being revealed without their having any say about it. That seems a little intrusive. On the other hand, almost everyone I know who has made such a discovery has been very happy about it. In any case, this genie won't be going back in the bottle.

A friend with a very distinctive appearance found out he had a kid fathered at a hippy party in the 70’s with an airline stewardess he never saw again after that night.
They met a few years ago and he sent pictures. DNA was not necessary to know that it was his kid!

"DNA was not necessary to know that it was his kid!" That's how it was when I discovered my half-brother. Any doubts were erased by his photograph. He looks more like my father than I do. But he also had the DNA proof.

DNA tests? Never did one. I'm not too sure about the relatives that I already know about. It is rumored that I have a half brother who would be in his later 70s if he's still alive. Mr. H is adopted and has expressed no interest in finding his roots. I'm a little surprised that one of his kids hasn't done a test though.
I had a chicken in the crock pot with some fresh basil and fresh rosemary at 6:45 this morning, before our walk. When we got back, we realized how much heat the thing was throwing off and moved it to the atrium, where there is no A/C.
A Zoom social chat this afternoon, but I'll have to cut out before it's over. Got a consultation with my periodontist about getting a lower tooth pulled. All part of a plan to keep as many other teeth as possible. I've had Invisalign aligners on the upper teeth for 5 months and the orthodontist says it's time for the next step. Get the tooth pulled and then get wire braces on the bottom to close the gap. I'll probably have those for a year. All due to crowding and the likelihood of losing the offending tooth and the 2 beside it. Yeah, it may not be worth the hassle and expense. Friends and family who started losing teeth didn't do well. But, then again, correlation isn't necessarily cause and effect.

I've had a great day with walking, driving, talking to people etc. I even smiled at almost everybody....... well not everybody
Enjoy your day....... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The Fruits and Nuts" (Marin County)
I decided to drive near Spirit Rock..... I'm going to work soon
I think people/companies are still very nervous about the flu19 or something.
I went to a fruit and vegetable stand near Woodacre/Fairfax CA. And most people doesn't have a lot of masks now. I wanted to buy to pick one ripe avocado - the skin is thick. I was going to prepare some guacamole lol. I know it's different with berries - blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc
You can't do anything at the Fruit Stand - they have to do it themselves. It has the yellow plastic - barrier, hazard, crime scene.
I think everybody is still worried about getting some kind of cooties or something
It seems to be a little too much.........

It may seem odd, but I didn't do the 23AndMe in hopes of finding any biological relatives. I was really just curious about my "pedigree." It has been a great experience getting to know my maternal relatives, though.
My biological mother did introduce me to my biological father. While he has been cordial, he has chosen not to reveal anything about me to his family. I'm completely fine with that, but I wonder how long it will be before one of his relatives does 23AndMe and is surprised to find me there.

You may find yourself in an awkward position. Do you tell the relative what your birth father doesn't want people to know?
