Up and awake. Dog and I are hanging out over a cup of tea. I'm in charge of sprinkler management, so got after that early. This is my last day before heading down to my new job. I will sit in on a strategic planning video call this morning, but otherwise the day is mine. I had tremendous plans for the last two weeks. Then I said to myself, "Boy, you've not had two weeks where you haven't been responsible for ANYTHING since before you came back on active duty in 2001." Noted, and I did &^%$ all significant except hang with the family. I'll start pulling weeds on Saturday. The girls and I went to see Top Gun: Maverick yesterday. As much as I have a hard time getting over Cruise and the scientology thing, I enjoyed the movie. Yes, it's full of improbable stuff. I DID note that a certain character had cuts on each side of his neck after ejecting. Nice touch! That's called riser burn, and happens when the parachute risers smack your neck as the chute fully inflates.

Sunny and 80 today. We've been blowing and going so hard this year I decided to shut the shop down on Friday and everyone gets 4 days off. Come by for fried chicken, potato salad, and hundred dollar bills at noon if you are in the neighborhood.

Good morning. It's cloudy one here but that'll change.
Last night we played Zoom trivia without our teammates, who are younger and more tuned in to pop culture. We expected to get drubbed. To our astonishment we won. Blind hogs, acorns, etc. We won because we guessed right as to (1) what federal holiday established in 1872 is observed in January in Louisiana, but in May in Alaska and Maine, and (2) who in Greek mythology was the first female human, one who engaged in conduct that ended the Golden Age of Man. If you know the answers I'm glad you weren't playing against us.
I have three scheduled events between now and mid-afternoon. That's a busy day for a retired guy. But none of it will be unpleasant.
Enjoy your day.

It'll be hot, humid and windy here, so I'll be doing a lot of inside stuff. I took down, and brought home, the kitchen curtains at the cabin and they are now in the washing machine, getting a much needed bath.

Good morning
76F-92F. Had a storm roll through early this morning. Sky lightning and lots of thunder. Hard rain and high winds for just a little while and then as fast as it came it went away.
Down to the shop to get what I can do done.

Knew the Greek mythology question. Mama Google had to help with the federal holiday.
I fancy a bit of 12 string fun today. Probably CGDGBD.

Played an hour 45 of pickleball this morning. I’m bushed. A little relaxation and a nap awaits.

We are going out to lunch. It's research to see if the restaurant is suitable for the monthly group lunch that we host. Parking, accessibility, food quality, service, and availability of larger tables will be critiqued. I'm totally happy with the place where we normally go, but we've had suggestions to move the lunch, so we've been checking other restaurants. I do believe that some of the regulars wouldn't be happy with the food anywhere. The majority are just happy to be out with other people at this point and don't care what kind of food it is. Mr. H also wants to stop at a sporting goods store after lunch to look for walking shoes, so I may be forced to browse. Most days I play guitar or keyboard or some other instrument. I've also been reading news in Spanish to brush up. And I've been watching math lectures, also to brush up. I may be a nerd. At least I am exercising my aging brain. It was the same with us, Mark. I think we were the only team that correctly guessed the holiday.
